Farolan Family

Evernorth elves

matriarchal last name, descriptive first name, animal-spirit second name, blood-day name third

Arboreal elves

one name, three parts, all blended - tree flower mother. The chosen names are decided in part by the fact that they have to blend with the other parts.

Vewelian elves

given first name, technological alliance second, religious alliance third, political affiliation fourth, matriarchal name last - can be hyphenated as the associations change

Qallurgian elves

one name, five parts - animal-spirit, glottal stop ('), mother's name, coming of age name chosen, gender identifier. The chosen names are decided in part by the fact that they have to blend with the other parts.

Windkeep elves

one name, multiple sources - first part is chosen by the mother, second by the father, third by the eldest living grandmother or aunt (or female sibling, or local village elder)--often an animal, the mountain where they were born, and their gender identifier. The chosen names are decided in part by the fact that they have to blend with the final parts.

Elder elves

name given by mother, name given by father, name for the Age born in, name for the hour born in, name for the father's mother's lineage, name for the mother's lineage

Dwonnic elves

one for blood, one for heart [one family name, one name given by the mother]

Pallanian elves

names reduce in length as they age, ten names at birth, eight at 100, six at 300, four at 500, two at 700, one above 900, none when dead. Usually, the final name kept is a matriarchal indicator, but it is up to the elf in question.

Iniseli elves

four names, usually abbreviated to one, first name chosen by mother, second name earned at coming of age ceremony, third name earned if one survives to 300, fourth name given by mother's second or third name - Iniselis

Da'sabash's unit

the eight warriors with Da'sabash and her sister.

Valhonian elves

eleven names, first chosen by the mother, second chosen by the father - combined with mother's to make a sentence, third given at birth for an aspect favored by the family, fourth given around age forty for the first aspect the child casts, fifth given at coming of age for the elf's community name, sixth chosen at coming of age by the elf, seventh determined by the elf's chosen profession, eighth chosen by the elf's teachers at school, ninth chosen by the elf at the age of 500, tenth given at birth by the matriarchal line, and eleventh earned only when the elf masters an aspect (and changes every time they master a new one)

Kesanese elves

six names, one given by mother's lineage, one chosen at birth by the parents, one for a fish, one for guild/military/faith/university, one defined by spouse, and one given by the phase of the three moons at birth

Ailanean elves

one name to tell, one name to keep, one name from the mother (last), one name from the life path, one name from the trees, one from the animals, one from the gods, one from the queen, one from the skies/seas/earth, and one from marriage

Stonedelver elves

four names, one given at birth by the parents, one from the mother's lineage, one from the stones, and one taken during the coming of age ceremony but kept private
