It follows the mother amongst elves. Halfbreeds are possible outside faeborn.

Elven powers work two ways: first, when a group of elves lives in an area, they begin to dominate life there, shaping the environment around them simply by existing. Second, the way they live their lives determines the sort of abilities they develop as they grow up.

For Ailanean elves, the life thrives in any way possible. Trees grow to untold heights. Animals are more than they usually are--bird song is prettier, plumage more vibrant, deer more graceful, dogs more loyal, cats more imperious, etc. Life itself shapes around their wants & needs.

Individual powers relate to life itself.

Ailanean elves honor life, & thus, most seek never to kill without using what they have killed (in terms of animals & plants) to its fullest. Ailanean elves focus on the life around them in their rich, silver woods. They can exert control over it to a degree, but they tend not to.

Ailanean elves commune with nature's soul, or so they claim, & believe that they know more about life than others. As such, they tend to dispense with wisdom to those who seek them out.

Like all elves, they bear an inherent superior attitude that other races usually deem as arrogant. Furthermore, all elven societies are matrilineal.
