It follows the mother amongst elves. Halfbreeds are possible outside faeborn.

Elven powers work two ways: first, when a group of elves lives in an area, they begin to dominate life there, shaping the environment around them simply by existing. Second, the way they live their lives determines the sort of abilities they develop as they grow up.

For Kesanese elves, the coral dominates the seaplane around them, giving them material to shape into beautiful cities, vibrant with the many colors of the deep. Sea life flourishes around them: beds of seaweed grow, whales & fish school in the thousands, & the water itself alters with their wants.

Individual powers relate to the sea.

Kesanese elves honor the beauty of the deeps above all else. The fact that life began in the seas is a central belief of their societies. These two virtues--the origin of life & the beauty of the deeps--defines them. They tend vast undersea gardens & seek out all the life they can underwater to encourage it to its full potential.

Kesanese elves do not necessarily need saltwater to live, though the pressures of the ocean are preferable. Some Kesanese elves can be found in extremely deep lakes. These "lake elves" are no different from their counterparts, except that the fauna & flora around them is often different. Kesanese elves view these as primitive versions of themselves, & vice versa.

Like all elves, they bear an inherent superior attitude that other races usually deem as arrogant. Furthermore, all elven societies are matrilineal.
