• Learning - to stop learning is to stop living.
• The Arts - there is a story in every play, painting, and symphony, if one looks hard enough.

• Protection - I will protect those around me however I can, be it through healing, wisdom, or violence. $

Convictions

• To truly study the history or story of a place, you must go to that place.
• To know where/who you come from is to know where/who you are.
• True wisdom cannot be reached by simply sitting at home. It must be sought and earned.
  • Neither is it easily gained.
• Knowledge and Wisdom are not the same thing. Understanding how to use a sword is knowledge. Understanding when to use one is wisdom.
• Simply because one's circumstances have changed does not lessen one's value; you're only useless if you let yourself be. $
• Just because something is distasteful, horrific, or otherwise bad is no reason not to learn about it.

• Rindacsa - Valhonian. She's the heart of our group. And gods know we need one.
• Ennasrion - Nas. Kyellezhi. A good leader.
• Da'sabash - Hul'Tessaq. Strong and sturdy, like the rest of her folk.
• Lamaera - Arboreal, quiet.
• Khal'maqua - Hul'Tessaq. Da'sabash's twin sister. Don't know much about her.
• Aleel'aqallah - Iniseli Consequent. She ended His existence. I'm still not sure how I feel about that.

Family

• Petra - Mother, forester. She is why the family moved to Idangar, and I love her for it.It's more home to me than Pallania, and I never would have met Miraela otherwise.
• Spyros - Father, biologist. He raised me with a love of learning and a rather egalitarian view of the world. I like to think both have served me well so far.
• Sorosiphina - Phia, elder sister, anthropologist. Some days I love her to pieces. Some days I'd like to kill her. About standard, really. She is now the Last Pallanian...I hope she can handle it. My heart aches for her.

Friends

• Sebestyén Bárány - Former classmate, majored in politics and history. We dated for a while, though it was never serious, and still keep in touch as we can. He's a good man.
• Miloš Király - If I had to trust anyone with my life, it would be Milos. He's always been there for me; one of the best men I know. And probably the only one I'd really consider marrying, at this point. Maybe.
• Yamamoto Kimiko - Priestess of Story. An excellent source for oral histories and folklore. I trade tales with her when I can; I knew her father Tomoya.
• Bai Cheung - Historian, and a good man as Agikaani go. He's been living in exile since I've known him, but hasn't let that stop his research. Much, anyway.
• Miraela - Dryad, youngest member of the grove near our house in Idangar. We grew up together, in a sense.
• Thomas O'Malley - Kearin, former student. He's grown into an incredibly intelligent man. I still visit when I can.

• Abernathy DeWitt - Head Librarian at the University of Belle Pointe. Charming man, and very helpful.
• Cetewayo Jameyao - L'huran scholar, keeper of the history of his people.

• Miriam Hofstedter - She never seemed to get over the fact that I scored higher than she did on the exams half the time. Good head on her shoulders, but she needs to get over herself.
• Chou Hyung-min - Archaelogist. Has set his mind on the notion that no woman will ever surpass him in any field. He's a jackass, but he's good at what he does.
• Penelope "Penny" Jackson - up-and-coming history scholar from Malhuin. She's got her sights set on surpassing me in the field. Flattering, in a way. Everyone needs someone to keep them on their toes. She'll go far, I think.

• Jeanine DeWitt - Has somehow gotten it into her head that I'm trying to bed her husband. Stupid bitch. Whatever.
• Rapist - He's dead now. Part of me is glad. Another part wishes I'd been able to do it.
• Kurthur Algreng - Sorcerer. No one makes demands of me, and especially not demands of genocide. He will regret this.
• Harkan Bheannaigh - Harkan the Black. So it's him we're up against, is it? Let him come.
