Born a wild talent nobleman of Maraddon, Conell's family was long dedicated to the empire. He learned politics, music, and history, and he excelled at all three. He built his own guitar, and he entered the games of the elite.

Then, he met Rufina, and it all changed. He loved her, but she loved a mystery man, and their marriage was strictly arranged.

He tried to woo her, with song and story, with everything he had, but circumstance rule otherwise: the appearance of Rumbleford, the Identifying of his foster son as a faerie, the blackmail by Civitello. Circumstance drove him to treason, and his heart became wounded.

But in the end, it was all for Rufina. He played his hand into a complex double agent situation: keeping a good face with Civitello, working for his own ends, and trying to reconcile with his foster son.

In the end, he was not good enough. In the end, his extracted promise is unfulfillable. In the end, all he has is to find a new purpose...

Timeline:

653 - Conell is born.

659 - Conell first starts learning guitar.

667 - Conell builds his first guitar.

671 - Conell meets Rufina at a state function.

673 - Conell marries Rufina. Rufina falls in love with Magnus Jericho.

675 - Rumbleford joins the Colzayre household. Avery is born. Civitello blackmails Conell.

677 - Civitello replaces Avery's eyes.

681 - Avery begins training under Dionysus. Rumbleford makes sure Avery has a good background in the old stories and songs of the Kearin and some of the fae.

684 - Conell sues for a marriage contract between Avery and Princess Annavera.

687 - Civitello makes contact with the Usurpers.

692 - The Maraddonian Civil War. Civitello flees the country and makes contact with Aeldian agents in Tamarnthek. Conell serves as an officer in the army and then takes up service as a civil servant after the war. Avery rejects service; Civitello returns to Maraddon in the guise of a merchant. The marriage contract between Avery and Annavera goes void.

693 - Avery joins the Colour of Sound. Arlie is ordered to act as a guard to Avery, not knowing the contract is null. Conell tries to break free of Civitello's machinations.

694 - The Gathering of Songs begins. Civitello forces Avery to kill his Rufina. Rumbleford tries to kill Civitello. Conell is injured and bound further to Civitello. The band gets one of Conell's songs. Civitello's shadowkin begins to find some free will, and obliterates a few dolphins. Civitello tries to rebind Avery underwater. Months later, the party returns to Hrass, where the massacre occurred, and the Champion of Music unleashes the raphael within Avery to restore the dolphins. Conell, at Civitello's command, enters the Contest.

695 - Conell is forced to give his song that the band has to Civitello's cabal. Conell meets the party again in Madziar and ends up dueling Diamond Jack. His poisoned blade seriously injures Diamond. The band eventually faces Civitello in his tower, and he dies and is restored. He is later assassinated again, but becomes a lich. Later, Conell meets the band again on the moons. This time, he has fought for some free will, and he is able to trick Civitello long enough to help the Sound and Fury in getting a song, while telling Avery his full story, as best as he can.

696 - The Contest at the Arena begins. Conell is the last musician to arrive, and ultimately, builds a band to face the Sound and Fury in the final contest. When he loses, he extracts a promise from the band that Rufina will be restored. The band discovers in the planes that she is already reincarnated. Conell, meanwhile, joins the other Contestants waiting the return of their rivals in Madziar, where he offers his services to the Scions of the Messiah as an agent of sorts. Civitello is ultimately destroyed in the planes.
