Aetherial Primary Occupations

The primary or original users of differnet kinds of aether:

Aedificarian - genesis
Those who wield Genesis by invoking its power during the process of making objects.

Bawmache - parfum de marais
Ones who can wield parfum de marais by infusing themselves with the waters and mud of the wetlands, bonding with the swamp and gaining insights into the world around it. They often carry machetes and wield vines and roots.

Blue Mage - conflueverant
Users of conflueverant who soak themselves in aetherial waters. In doing so, they absorb aether int othemselves and are able to make themselves metaphorically fluid, giving them the power to control water and absorn energies.

Chrononaut - temporal aether
The art of moving through or otherwise controlling time by using temporal aether is one usually forbidden. It is only possible through use of saturnium clocks and other special equipment.

Dendrologer - prasinofos
A more scientific approach to the use of prasinofos, dendrology is the use of wood and leaf to create a greenlight that guides one through forest, swamp, or plain, or to drive away befoulment and pollution.

Druid - viridian aether
A meditative and communal art that allows one to draw upon the viridian aether throughout the world, communing with all life, wielding Mother Shem's wrath, and channeling it through staves. They wear special robes and are protectors of forests.

Earth Mage - kazaddarean
Wearers of robes made of soil and dirt who connect to the earth itself and draw up the kazaddarean, which they channel through staves and use to control stone and loam. They are usually covered in dirt.

Flowergirl - hasken fure
Young maidens who draw power via vernal festivals. They wield hasken fure which is imbued upon through community ceremonies, and they are protected by butterflies and garlands and flowers.

Grylukert - hvittdogg
Ones who can unlock the hvittdogg within ice and snow, wielding it through song (sometimes called snowsingers).

Incendium - lahab al'qalb
Special mages who store fire in bottles to breathe in and out, controlling it through lahab al'qalb.

Lawaiʻa - ikehua lyua pele
Hook wielders who can draw lava out of the ground by casting special hooks into the soil and drawing it out like an ikehua lyua pele fish.

Luminaire - the bright
The same glass used to create the Lesedian Mirror can be shaped into lanterns and lamps that generate, direct, and control the bright.

Magonian - kiiric yihi
Mages who carry the winds in satchels imbued with kiiric yihi that allows them to unleash and sometimes control them.

Mahra - anumun
Ancient witches who are rumored to have the secrets of anumun.

Ohapitu - tmakikan
A form of farming that allows the user of Tmakikan to draw that energy from the tilled earth and imbue either sown seeds, livestock, or people with it as an act of fortifying, healing, or protecting.

Parhelion - ma'dhahabi
Dancers who can direct and control ma'dhahabi with special ribbons or devices.

Plicator - qeernariji
Ones who can control qeernariji with compasses that direct astral energies and allow them to teleport in straight lines. They can move entire ships.

Psychopomp - poarta
White-adorned wielders of poarta who carry special keys that allow them to send souls. They can also travel through the Nether Realm and guide souls to their afterlives.

Samaaeat - hamasat al-sahra
Those who dance, sing, and especiall whisper in the the deep desert to control the hamasat al-sahra, which allows them control of the winds and sandstorms. They wear special robes for the desert heat, carry aetherial sand in hourglasses, and can become one with the dunes.

Shadowweaver - true shadow
Weavers of the energy of true shadowwho can create cloaks and other clothing out of the night, special nets and whips of darkness, and control the shadows to occlude, obfuscate, and blind.

Shimisi - bailaohu jinghua
Those who can forge esoteric metals, especially the nine great metals, by wielding bailaohu jinghua. They have special tools (hammer, anvil, water, fire) and know the secrets of using aetherial metals.

Sounder - sonic aether
One who can control sonic aether via a special tuning fork, creating intricate works of sound that can cause different effects to bodies, minds, souls, or hearts.

Sussoror - livadi
Those who can take a blade of grass and use it to control the livadi through whispers, whistles, and breath, summoning the aetherial winds through the grasslands.

Taiga Mage - tykva vlast
Those who can command TykvaVlast by drawing it out of pinecones, needles, or boreal tree bark.

Tempestarii - bijalee
Seekers of weather who can commune with it and channel bijalee through special staves called vanes. They sometimes ride clouds.

Vitalist - ashar
Sacred users of ashar who use specially knotted and corded ropes that can channel their lifeforce into others (or between others) in order to heal, preserve, or in rare cases, revive.

Wildling - nzwara murazvo
Wielders of nzwara murazvo who commune with animals by imitating them and traveling or living with them, taking on their habits and gaining their powers. They wear headdresses that symbolize their animal friends after they leave them.

Witch - lunar aether
A woman who serves the Moons.

Celestial Occupations

Thes of different kinds of celestial essence:

Angelologist - celeste water
One who vows service to angels and gains celestial powers of protection, healing, or empowerment of others.

Clan Mage - banaru
A user of banaru who uses emotional bonds to draw people together to create magical protections that connect "families" (literal or metaphorical). They do this through special marks and symbols of their clan (chosen or not).

Hallow - holy virtue
A person who embodies the 12 holy virtues, a hallow gains different powers depending on how they embody each virtue.

Hanniga - juaih
A worker whose labor generates juaih and uses it to provide for and protect their community or family.

Harmonist - euphony
A musician who useds Euphony to bond people together, uniting them in song and thus in heart and soul.

Healer - curacion
One who provides medical care through mundane means has many names (doctor, physician, etc.), but those who use celestial energies are called healers. The power of curacion derives from blood, and healers draw their own to create medicines. This is augmented with other medical skills, mundane and supernatural, but in direst times, they use their own blood to heal.

Kamatuuran - waarheid
One who uses the power of waarheid to carve True Names into statues and other figures, animating them to protect others.

Kumal - ujjval aatma
One who achieves equilibrium within their own soul and gains the power to sense imbalance in the world--and to affect it.

Lapidarist - dumaqu
Dumaqu is generated via acts of love and made into jewels that empower others.

Longwalker - euskepsia
One who travels the Long Path and gains the ability through experiences that engrave upon their mind deeper wisdoms the power to use euskepsia. They channel their mental energies through spears and bear special protective gear called an aegis.

Manganga - botshepehi
Those believers in either a calling, a greater power, or some other strongly beld conviction who do so with such fidelity and passion that they draw esoteric power called botshepehi from it.

Anveshak - lhair
To uphold the law is to uphold the will of the ruling class; to uphold true justice requires something greater. Marshals wield the power of lhair, which allows them to sense injustice and mete out true justice. They carry lassos and chakrams.

Miracleworker - elysian essence
Those who travel the world helping people in need, often in ways that those in need don't even notice, giving the impression of miracles being performed. In doing so, they encourage belief in miracles, increasing the Elysian essence in the world, thereby increasing chances of actual miracles occurring.

Mu Ayo - euphoria
Ones who create euphoria by sharing joy with those around them, then using it to uplift them metaphysically.

Ocelotl - tenyocan
The legendary zazotlein jaguar warriors who wield Tenyocan through their heroic feats. Often they are twins.

Pax Rider - iremia
By refusing actively to use a weapon in the face of major conflicts, a pax rider gains use of iremia. They ride from place to place, negotiating peace between warring factions, feuding families, or arguing friends, and as they do so, they build up the power of peace, which rides with them.

Prismatic Mage - radiance
Users of radiance who carry prisms that can split radiance into its seven component parts. These energies can then be redirected to empower others or create other radiant energies.

Tæflere - serendipity
A gambler who relies upon serendipity.

Tagapagpalaya - liberation power
Those who wield liberation power through continuing, increasing acts of resistance.

Udagan - aemoa
Various kinds of mostly women spiritual healers, leaders, and guides who commune with their Aemoa and gain insights, skills, and powers from their forebears.

Unifier - euergasia
Those who unite workers in solidarity through use of euergasia, thus making them temporarily invincible.

Uninetsv - yahas
Those who speak the words of yahas in order to build bonds with others and create communities that protect one another and share powers

Uwabikoze - hegnh
A of hegnh who crafts shells, soap, houses, or even whole towns and imbues their work with the power.

Visionary - euphotonia
One whose creativity takes over them.

Infernal Occupations

The users of different kinds of infernal essence:

Avenger - baleblood
One who infuses baleblood via a special tattoo (made with baleblood as ink) and has some control over it, even when in a state of rage. They wield specially fitted claws (if they have none of their own), because weapon-use becomes primal in the rage state.

Siphoner - quaestus
A mage who uses blood as their medium for casting magic. Though neutral variations of this exist, most use quaestus in order to gain power from stealing, using, or draining the blood of others.

Cacosinger - cacophony
The creation of cacophonic energy requires the disruption of sound via sound. Cacosingers can use their voices (or instruments) to turn any sound into dissonant, painful noise, and thus wield it by casting the cacophony vocally.

Calamatist - misfortune
The energies of fortune and misfortune are impossible to fully control, but many have learned to sense them, capture them, and nudge them. Calamatists take on misfortune unto themselves in order to become sources of the energy, then go about rigging games of chance in order to spread misfortune to others.

Conquistador - corrogatio
A conquering warrior who invades lands to take them from indigenous populations.

Demonologer - infernum
One who gains infernal powers by making a deal with demons. Demons require payment in souls, which can be taken from the user or from a murder victim of the user. Depending on the demon and their power, what is gained from such a deal varies, but usually a contract is involved.

Dewin Drain - thorn energy
A gardener of [thorn energy, one who crafts and creates the intricate Aeldian gardens< that grow the plants that create thorn energy. From these gardens, they can gather materials to make poisons and substances that allow them to consume identities, steal abilities, and gain power.

Doomsayer - eldritch energy
The Eldritch's secret Names contain the power to end all things. Doomsayers learn fragments of these Names, which they never speak, and write them with special quill and ink onto special paper, which they roll into scrolls and never look upon. But so long as they carry them, they may invoke their power to inflict a doom upon someone. They stitch their mouths shut so they cannot accidentally speak the secret Name fragments, but break the stitches to inflict a doom.

Engourdissant - stravomenos
A user of the psionic energy stravomenos, which drains knowledge from the minds of others and destroys it. Learned through painful meditative arts, the use of this power also empties the mind of the user.

Frailthing - sterisi
Ascetics who starve themselves in order to create [Sterisi, which they let consume and control their bodies until they are vessels of famine and drought. Their touch becomes a desiccating, malnourishing act of violence, and their spittle is acid, which they use to attack others.

Gemmarius - feirua
The concept of "race" was invented by the gemmariuses. They believe in and use purity of blood and body, mind and soul, to create gems called feirua, which reflect the hearts of mortals and allow them to control them.

Gyroxene - ibbissu
Unpredictable, violent dancers who spin and twist and contort themselves wildly in order to capture entropy and fling it about dangerously, altering reality around them.

Hexologer - slitna
A numerological art, hexology requires the use of a special cube. Reconfiguring its six sides leads to different effects that unleash the power of rending, which destroys all.

Hollow Mage - hollow energy
Cruel, petty tyrants who torture a victim until their soul breaks, then use the hollow energy that provides to cast evil magic. Their insides slowly dissolve, to be replaced by vermin.

Illusionist - Bedrog
One whose Name is False. From this, they derive Bedrog, which they an use to create alternate versions of reality in the form of believable illusions. Their Name is made False through ancient rituals or accident.

Imperator - imperium
Those who wield chains made from schwerstrum, which contains imperium. This white metal allows the wielder to control those bound by the chains. They wear collars of the same material to connect themselves to the chained.

Industrialist - brown aether
One who owns, runs, and draws power from massive industrial projects.

Irritologer - void
Scientists and engineers who work with technology that controls void, an energy which nullifies other energies.

Lure - peccatum
One who wields Peccatum via dance and special perfumes in order to entice others to commit acts of atrocity, or to lure them into situations where they are made victims of such.

Necromancer - msawhat
Those fell magic users who wield pure msawhat to corrupt mind, body, soul, and heart in order to create, control, summon, channel, gain power from, or otherwise interact with the undead. They wear funeral shrouds, keep bones as tools, and stink of decay.

Plague-Bearer - vile energy
Those who use special nets to capture miasmas and spread disease.

Ponomancer - arnum
Cruel users of arnum who generate the power from acts of torture and self-flagellation, ponomancers wield their evil energies to make predictions and inflict more pain. They carry meat hooks and wear the skin of their victims.

Satsujin-sha - fusei
A form of onmyoji who intentionally imbalances spaces in order to maximize the amount of fusei, which they use to inflict punishments on others.

Sponterezh - uafas
The energy uafas infuses certain hallucinogenic compounds that can be wielded by skilled users on darts and other projectiles in order to cause nightmares and visions of terror.

Schiavista - drenante
Those who wield Drenante use ancient ledgers that track ownership of mercatorial contracts. They make deals with others in order to capture powers and abilities from them.

Stillborn Cultist - pravum
A horrible cult of childkillers who gain powers via pravum, acts of depravity that give them strength. They craft knives of unholy might from the bones of their child victims, stalk and harm pregnant people, and kill new mothers as well.

Velikiy - razdavit'
The use of razdavit' means drawing power at the expense of others. The velikiye do this by means of ancient script and brands.

Warlock - blasphemy
An oathbreaker who takes their state of rejection and turns it into a weapon, wielding curses from the blasphemy created by their betrayals. They place their powers into sticks, which they break in order to unleash a curse.

Webweaver - gossamer light
One who uses webs to control many at once.

Whisperer - mollesse
Those who use Mollesse do so vocally, whispering into fans and using them to toss the whispers like a ventriloquist, placing them in the ears of their victims and driving them to acts of self harm.

Witchfinder - tandh
A seeker and hunter of witches who wields tandh to bind and destroy them in the name of patriarchal power.

Nommic Primary Occupations

The primary or original users of different kinds of nommos:

Bloodcaster - blood energy
An esotericist who wields the power of blood without stealing it.

Chymosian - humors
A physician who uses the energy of humors to heal people.

Ennead - emotional resonance
Sometimes called stringers, enneads use string figures (like a cat's cradle) to invoke different emotions that they then wield to influence emotional resonance.

Haruspex - aifaellam
Those who interpret aifaellam to read the future.

Namecaster - True Names
Wielders of True Names, those who invoke the raw power of nommos to command reality.

Menstriae - psionic energy
One who, unlike a psionist, learns to use psionic energy through special metallic headbands and concentration.

Sorcerer - soul energy
Users of soul energy to channel their own immortal being into powerful magic via special rods.

Wisin - mijjit
Those who practice esoteric exercises to invoke mijjit and mansam, the energies of the body and muscles, that allow them to control their own bodily growth and transformations.

Paradoxical Primary Occupations

The primary or original users of different forms of paradoxical energies:

Alteror - flux
The users of flux carry special floating orbs that allow them to control the flow of the paradoxical power of change.

Turogzot - vonzot
Psionic users of vonzot, the psionic variation of complexity, complex mages bind to computers with their minds.

Hyperscientist - possibility
Those who experiment with the energy of possibility using special glass beakers and other materials.

Lawcaster - The Law
The Law is the ancient set of laws that once dictated the behavior of Divines. Now it is long-since abandoned in favor of the Will of the Mother, but fragments of these ancient laws are found around Shem. Those who find them and can read the Divine language in which they are written may invoke their power to command the Divines themselves.

Numerologer - complexity
Users of complexity who command this paradoxical energy with use of abacus and counting beads.

Trickster - paradox
Users of special paradoxical idioms.

Wayfinder - momentum
Those who wield momentum through mercurial arts.

Primary or original users of poioumenonic energies:

Arcanist - arcane shadow
Those who wield the power of arcane shadow to find secrets, protect mysteries, and act with stealth. They have special palimpsestic journals, veils, and other secret rituals and devices that allow them to command the arcane.

Bondsmage - ethereal essence
Wielders of ethereal essence who control it through feathered whips, bonding with objects, organisms, places, etc. to draw magical abilities or improve themselves or others.

Cupbearer - stagma
One who attends and carries messages for a leader of the parade.

Onmyoji - kor
Users of special lenses that allow them to view history, dialecticians wield kor, the energy of what came before. They can view the past and draw from it.

Grinning Mage - unfugl
Prankster mages who wield unfugl, the paradoxical/poioumenonic energy that allows them to make changes to reality for very specific purposes. They wear masks with distorted grinning faces on them.

Imager - dream energy
Mages who use mirrors to capture dream energy and images that they then use to create dreams and illusions.

Mage - mana
Wielders of mana, the energy of esoteric energies, that use wands and robes to help them sense, control, and influence magic.

Meli'ikitenya - ginginyuneti
One who speaks the First Language to communicate, tell tales, histories, or foretellings.

Mlonda - kutsegula
A guard who draws upon and wields kutsegula in order to manage the movement between gates.

Rambler - fortune
A gambler of the esoteric variety, one who senses the winds of fortune and can use them to increase their chances in games of risk and chance.

Saoiste - fuinneamh
A hunter who is attuned to the spirit of the Hunt and the Horned King.

Seer - fate
Weavers of fate who have special needle and thread that allows them to understand what is to come. They wear blindfolds.

Sipaki - ayase
A wandering fool whose journey always begins an adventure much larger than themselves.

Spiritspeaker - spirit energy
Those who communicate with spirits and either command or request their power.

Symbologer - symbolism
The use of symbolism requires, plainly, the use of symbols. Symbologers take symbols in the form of charms that they invoke to create myriad effects

Tutelar - tutelary energy
One who is bound to a place via tutelary energy and tasked to protect it.

Wyrder - poioumenon
Users of the lore that invokes poioumenon, whose flow controls the narrative of the world.

Yaatree - tahalana
Folk who roam and use the powers of tahalana to learn from and experience their journeys.

Shebvic Primary Occupations

The primary or original users of different forms of shebvic energies:

Bitol - cu'ucuch'ik
Esotericists who build large structures with materials infused with cu'ucuch'ik. Stones, plaster, and trowels with this gebvelic energy in it are commonly used.

Dyvar - gebvel
Ones who wield gebvel through impact rituals. Dyvaris are martial artists and ascetics who turn their bodies into unbreakable barriers.

Faxian Zhe - menab'e
Miners who gather menab'e and build up mashoaabic power that they can draw on as needed. They use special sacks that can hold energies.

Lag-Mathaer - shavev mashkalran
Warrior-mages who wield shavev mashkalran via powerful warhammers, enforcing law through interpretive combat.

Khutchteier - oalkhaylaoataa
Practicioners of special exercises that invoke oalkhaylaoataa, allowing them to perform incredible feats of strength.

Lasar - shebv heya
"Those who allow". Users of shebv heya who use a mixture of martial arts, dance, and positional magic to let the energy flow around them and maintain the status quo.

Mercator - mashoaab
Wielders of mashoaab, the energy of value and trade. They can trade esoteric properties, powers, and abilities via deals. Unlike demonic contracts or other infernal powers, mashoaab allows equal and undamaging exchange.

Pentologer - draconic power
Those who embody the five aspects of draconic power: discipline, power, majesty, accumulation, and territory. This is a martial art.

Pilferer - gemtkhereg
Hooded mages who use gemtkhereg to steal energies and objects.

Vadasz - b'qar
Esoteric hunters who use b'qar to make themselves better at stalking their prey.

Wabeno - kakraohy
Esoteric jugglers who use kakraohy, the energy of learning and using skills. They juggle special batons and clubs that allow them to move this Damaskian power.

Weaponmaster - d'qiarsea
Users of d'qiarsea to perform ritual combat that makes them the greatest users of their chosen weapons.
