The Law is the Divine Law created by the Arbiter that governs Shem. Because this Law is binding via the Arbiter's will, it is possible for mortals to use it as a power source over the Divine. It is, however, against the Law to do so. The only legal way for a mortal to wield the Law is in the Arbiter's court, at the behest of the Arbiter or a Divine.

Law-casting:
Law-casting is the illegal use of the Law to command reality by wielding the will of the Divine. It is, essentially, blackmail. There are many loopholes and small Laws in the great Divine legal system that every Divine has violated, and the punishments are much more severe than justified. Any mortal aware of these can easily force a Divine to do just about anything. If one knows the Law well enough, one may simply pray to any Divine and mention this information in order to "Law-cast."

Speaking:
In the Hierarchy of the Arbiter, Speakers are Aeonians who know the Law well enough to represent others in the Arbiter's Courts. Once the Arbiter has pronounced judgment in Court, the Speakers are imbued with the Voice of the Law and allowed to temporarily command the Divine through the Law.
