Aether

Energies of the natural universe. Aether existed before the universe, representing the two fundamental powers - chaos and order, anumun and viridian aether, creation and destruction, destruction and creation, natural chaos and natural law. As these two energies conflicted, reality asserted itself, and the cosmos was born. This moment was called genesis, and that moment of active creation is reformed in all acts of creation.

Anumun

The energy of elemental chaos. The chaos that existed before the universe, the energy from which all things sprung. Generative chaos, natural chaos. The energy of the possibility of existance. It exists in all things, connecting them deeply, and from it comes elemental ancestry (enkuku) and elemental True Names (galmu). The creative force within it, when combined with viridian aether, is genesis.

Anumun, Enkuku, Galmu, Genesis

Ashar

Lifeforce. Qi. The elemental energy of life, blood, and bodies. It has some crossover with enkuku, viridian aether, the four broad categories of living things (animals, fungi, microbes, and plants) recognized on Shem. All living things have ashar in them, but some have more than others because they have other forms of life energy. Ashar in the bloodstream is called puuyutsu, and the elemental energy of bodies, which is a form of ashar, is called hroa.

Ashar, Hroa, puuyutsu

Bailaohu Jinghua

The elemental energy of metal. Considered one of the five ordinal elements of the eastern countries, it is found in all metals and is found in purest form as a metal. Sometimes called the "veins of the world", some consider it a form of elemental blood, but in truth, it is found in many kinds of blood because iron is found there. There are many forms of elemental metals, usually variants of mundane metals.

Bailaohu Jinghua

Bidliet

The elemental energy of the seasons. Bidliet is a cross-section of elemental time and weather energies, but there is a deeper energy there that comes out of the cyclical nature of the seasons. On Shem, there are regions with four recognized seasons and regions (usually tropical) with two recognized seasons. Every season has its own subenergy of bidliet: spring (vernal energy), summer (aestate), autumn (autumnal energy), and winter (brumal energy) exist in four-season regions, while dry season (harmattan energy) and wet season (monsoon energy) exists in two-season regions. See below under bijalee for specific weather energies. The energy of jalavayu is a form of bijalee that crosses over with bidliet and temporal aether in that it is the energy of climate, which includes climate zones and seasons. It also includes special days, such as the solstices and equinoxes.

Bidliet, Aestate, Autumnal Energy, Brumal Energy, Harmattan Energy, Monsoon Energy, Vernal Energy, Bijalee, Jalavayu

Bijalee

The elemental energy of weather. The patterns of weather, the energies of every major form of weather exist as subtypes, though most do not have specific names. There is deep crossover with conflueverant and kiiric yihi, and some consider it part of bidliet. The named subtypes are nuages, the magic of all kinds of clouds (including fog); fulmenic power, which is thunder and lightning; mist energy, which is the mysterious energy that comes from mists; and torrentia, which comes from all forms of rain. All forms of wind are under bijalee and kiiric yihi. Forms of weather that are recognized include but are not limited to clement weather, clouds, cyclones, derechos, dust devils, firewhirls, fog, hail, haze, lightning, mist rain, sandstorms, snow and blizzards, sunshowers, thunder, thunderstorms, tornados and whirlwinds, waterwhirls, windstorms, and winds. Jetstreams, weather fronts, weather circulation, weather belts and bands, and storms cells all fall under this. The energy of jalavayu is a form of bijalee that crosses over with bidliet and temporal aether in that it is the energy of climate, which includes climate zones and seasons. This energy can be used to explore aetherial patterns. It is also more abundant on gas giants or in cloud forests. Mist energy includes aetherial, elemental dreams.

The Bright

The energy of elemental light. All forms of light fall under this, including sunlight (ma'dhahabi), moonlight lunar aether), and starlight qeernariji). The aurora is often considered its own separate subset of the bright (aurora energy). The bright is extremely powerful aetherial magic, focused throughout Shem via the Lesedian Mirror, a massive, magical, aetherial mirror on the floating island of Lesedi on the continent of Gyrah floating above Shem.

Conflueverant

The energy of elemental water in all its forms. It is the energy of flowing aether, of the aetherial heart, and of the living things within water. It is one of the most potent, versatile, and common forms of aether on Shem. Aspects of it include rivers, streams, creeks, and other flowing waters (river energy); rain (torrentia); oceans (oceanic energy) and seas (darian energy); lakes and ponds (nyanja); wetlands (parfum de marais); tidal and coastal waters; lagoons, gulfs, and bays; channels and straits; steam and tropics; the wet season (monsoon energy); and ice and snow (hvittdogg). Water at the deepest parts of Shem are called the deeps, which take on a different energy. Waters around islands, coasts, and peninsulae sometimes have ho'okuma within them. The energies of steam are called vapor energy. Conflueverant is also the energy of elemental emotion, reflecting the flow of emotion through the world, called kardiaroi.

G'hothaaul'ugots

Genesis

The energy of creation, formed via the union of viridian aether and anumun. The shaping and crafting done by living things to the natural world.
