Setting:
OceansWorld MapThe story takes place in a transitional era between technological rises, in the nation of
Nemar, a nation in a wide valley between two land masses. The northern land mass is home to a nation (Malhuin) of humans and serpent people called ulaga. The southern land mass is home to many nations, being the northern rim of one of the largest continents in the world. The area of Nemar the game will start in is off the coast of a nation (Janawek) of sasquatches and humans. The town where everything starts is called
Rohhev, a bustling town that is holding onto its roots as a farming community, population 1,108.
Nemar is a small nation relative to other aquatic nations, which are sometimes larger than most continents. Nemar is hundreds of miles long and about a hundred miles wide at its widest (from north to south). It is composed to many species, being a nation of traders and crafters. It attracts undersea folk from around the world. It is ruled by a noble class who control large territories. The merchant class is in conflict with the noble class, while the peasants, serfs, and workers are subject to the whims of both. The ruler of Nemar is the
Palirroiarch, a
fuuguu noble and a known master of the
Currents.
Rohhev is located in the barony of Rohhallav, ruled by Baron
Uistaros Finblack, a
fuath noble rumored to be descended of a robber-baron who was legitimized generations back. There is a small consortium in Rohhallav of merchants called the
Rohhallavan Coinner Guild. They have a stranglehold on commerce in the barony, and smaller merchants are often hurt by their practices. They are also in conflict with the local nobles, who view them as a threat and try to pass laws that will restrict their trade. These laws usually only hurt the smaller merchants, however.
Not far from Rohhev, to the south, is the
Old Baihalen Ruin, where the remains of a much older town are located. There, the ancient
Library of Baihalen is located, half ruined, protected by its ancient statues, empowered by energies few of the locals do not understand.
