The original angels were split into ranks by the Mother of Heaven:

1. Chayot, those closest to her
2. Ophan, the charioeteers
3. Er'el, the valiant ones
4. Hashmal, flashing fire and storm
5. Seraph, the burning ones
6. Malak, the mid-ranking angels
7. Eloh, those closest to other Divines
8. Bene Eloh, those who serve the elohim
9. Cherub, who protected the Manifests
10. Ishu, those closest to the affairs of mortals

Later, messiahs formed their own structures:

First Sphere:

1. Seraph, caretakers of the thrones of the Divines
2. Cherub, who guard the World Tree
3. Sedes, the Thrones, the elders, through whom judgment is discharged

Second Sphere:

1. Dominatio, who regulate the duties of lower angels
2. Lucens, the Virtues, who carry miracles and protect nature
3. Potestas, the Authorities, who restrain evil forces

Third Sphere:

1. Principatus, who guide and protect nations, groups, and faiths
2. Archangel, of which there are only seven, who protect special nations and countries
3. Rasul, those most directly interacting with individual mortals, often just called "angels"

And guardian angels were their own special class, who protect the souls of all mortals.

And Radiant Angels are divided into seven "heavens" or bands of the rainbow, the first through seventh malkuks.

All of the angels in the Heavenly Host have their own, more militaristic hierarchy:

1. Taxiarch, the single marshal of the Heavenly Host
2. Yazata, the generals
3. Na'wa, the weapon makers
4. Darda'il, the choir
5. Hafaza, the archers
6. Mu'aqqib, the foot soldiers

And finally, every Supernal Divine has a metatron, an angelic herald.
