Zoanthropy comes in seven varieties:
Zoanthrope Template
- Natural
- Infected
- Supernatural
- Temporary
- Delusional
- Partial
- Bonded
The seven forms:
- Natural zoanthropes are born to zoanthrope parents. They have the ability to shift between a base form, an animal form, and a zoanthropic form. They are affected by the moons or other natural patterns, but not driven insane--they are merely forced to change to their animal form.
- Infected zoanthropes suffer from a virus that alters their DNA, magically altering them and causing them to go mad. They are affected by the moons or other natural patterns, driven to violence and wildness during those times.
- Supernatural zoanthropes are created by curses, spells, religious invocations, or other supernatural means. These vary greatly by the specifics of the supernatural cause.
- Temporary zoanthropes are circumstantially created, generally overlapping with supernatural zoanthropes.
- Delusional zoanthropes are people who have gone insane and believe themselves to be animals or actual zoanthropes.
- Partial zoanthropes are any of the other sorts of zoanthropes who only have two forms instead of one.
- Bonded zoanthropes are people who have connected somehow to an animal and that is the source of their zoanthropy.
Subraces:
Susceptibility: The zoanthropic viruses cannot infect anyone. Only some species can be fully infected. Others can be partially infected, usually leading to delusional, partial, or temporary zoanthropy. Any void-based race is immune. Any race patroned by the Healer Divine, Cursed God, Muckdweller, or Scarab God are immune (except zoanthrope races patroned by them).
Common effects: All zoanthropes have a special weakness.
Madness: When and how a zoanthrope goes mad depends on their race and the origin of their zoanthropy.
