Gyrah is the continent amidst the clouds that floats above Shem.

The continent is not stationary--it flows through the skies in an erratic orbit, circling the World Tree in a wide arc. As such, it crosses many leys in its travels. Leys are currents of magic that flow around Shem, and when one is on a ley, one's magic is stronger. Where leys intersect it is called a confluence. On Seconin 20, 1003, the continent of Gyrah will pass through the confluence in central Ranu (leys flow through all altitudes).

Every magic-user in Gyrah has some sort of plan for that day. Word has gone out that the Walkerian Emperor's finest mages intend to launch a major assault on the Freehold on that day, and thus, the Freehold's mages plan a massive defensive spell. Many other mages have many other plans.

Players should be agents of magic-users (not the magic-users themselves) planning to use the confluence to their advantage.

Peter: Phobos, azure talent agent of the Bloodcaster-General
JT: Miao Je Aeonian of the CourtOfMists of Stratanian faction
Dani: Johnathan Watts neurophalon intinate of Agony
Nathan: Cyrus, Walkerian condor familiar
Benjesus: Agatha and Ezekiel, vyxene twin mages, followers of the Baizhane Cabal
Jeff: Sydan, eipaikkaa spies of Stratanian

The playable factions:
  • Walkerian imperialists: nationalistic fascists planning an assault on the Freehold. Allied with Stratanian and the Summoners' Guild.
  • Stratanian: a topaz dragon lord who seeks to bind all of the continent more firmly together, possibly into one giant island. Allied with the Walkerians and the Bloodcaster-General.
  • The Baizhane Cabal: a group of six mages who serve the Lord of Hooks and plan to use the confluence to unleash torrential acid rains. Allied with the Summoners' Guild.
  • Bloodcaster-General: a rogue Freeholder who intends to destroy the Baizhane Cabal for perceived slights. He is a follower of the Mother of Blood. Allied with Stratanian.
  • Summoners' Guild: the Summoners' Guild is a major worldwide guild of mages who specialize in summoning creatures. Their representatives in Gyrah plan to use the confluence to inscript the King of Rukhs. Allied with the Walerkians and the Baizhane Cabal.
The unplayable factions:
  • Freehold republicans: democratic peoples planning to defend themselves from the Walkerians. Allied with Inverray and the Nikolaevian Cabal.
  • Court of Birds: avians (both anthropomorphic and not) that plan to use the confluence to lift Skyhalt higher into the sky, on the back of the Topaz Ern (a greater elemental) by freeing the island from the continental elemental Gyrah Cumulus. Allied with the Nikolaevian Cabal.
  • The Nikolaevian Cabal: a group of eleven mages who seek to commune with the Spellcaster Divine. Allied with the Court of Birds.
  • Inverray: the mages of Inverray plan to send a secret assault against the Walkerian mages in defense of the Freehold. Allied with the Freehold.
Things I want:
  • One player to play a talking animal. A bird makes the most sense, but I'm open to ideas. - Nathan has taken this one
  • One player to play a psionic race: Psionist, Carrier, Brainmaster, Mindling, Neurophalan, Hyperion, Myn-ka'ar are the most common ones in Gyrah.
  • One player to play a race from the New Gods: Hyperion [infinity-psionist], Eipaikkaa [utopian hiver], Iramu [emotion-gondal], Vyxene [contradiction twin race], Kirti [glory shemir] are the common ones. - Vyxene and Eipaikkaa are chosen by Benjesus and Jeff respectively
  • One player to play an Aeonian (a unique Immortal). Spheres that'd make sense for this are Air, Weather, Infinity, and Knowledge, but anything is possible. - JT has laid claim to this one
  • If no one bites, we can combine some of these.
  • Other than the above, the only requirement is that everyone play an agent of one of the above factions or a faction they make up. Preferably, all PCs will be part of allied cabals.
The quest:
In order to take the most advantage of the confluence, every faction is attempting to acquire a source of power known to be located in the sea of clouds that swirls in what they call the Anemosian Sea, which lies between the southern archipelago and the larger islands to the north (see map, it's the big open space below Psyara, etc. and above Lonimim, Dorim, Janan, and Inverray). Players would be members of allied cabals working together to get to this power source, of which little more is known than its location.
