| Culture | Hyperions live in cities floating in the upper atmosphere, where they are able to use their hyperkinesis to bend the laws of reality. A hyperion child will be born without any powers, blind and deaf, and must be cared for and shaped by his parents' hyperkinetic powers. By the time the child reaches the age of 10, s/he will have gained enough power to operate in the upper atmosphere on their own. At the age of 12, a hyperion will undergo a unification with the hive mind of all hyperions, at which time the hyperion will be sent on a quest into the inner-infinite of the hive mind, until they find their chosen role. This usually takes about 12 years. When they complete their quest, they are allowed to choose their own path in the world. Common paths include teachers, explorers, magic, void, city-shaping, and marriage. |
