  • A living nightmare is formed from existing nightmares.
  • They can only enter the Waking Realm if they were in the minds of multiple people who all wake up at once.
Duende:
  • A duende can shape toes into strange lights after they have cut them off of someone by tying them to a string.
  • If one says something is beautiful in the presence of a duende, the duende must destroy that beautiful object.
  • A duende gains fiery breath from eating unspiced meat.
  • Their glamours are horrifying.
  • Their toe-lights lure people in who are related to the victim.
Eloko:
  • Biloko can see in the dark.
  • They have little bells that kill anyone who moves while they are ringing.
  • Their claws can cut through flesh like butter if sharpened for an hour on a piece of slate.
  • The sight of one makes the weak willed faint if the eloko has a cap made of hair.
  • If they have vanished, only powerful supernatural forces will break that concealment if the eloko covers up his mirror.
Fear Liath:
  • Fear liath have no compassion.
  • Anything they kill, they can eat.
  • If they eat a brain, it makes them smarter. If they eat a heart, it makes them stronger. If they eat a stomach, it makes them bigger. If they eat a lung, it makes them more durant. If they eat a liver, it makes them more resistant to poisons. If they eat a kidney, it makes them faster. If they eat an eye, it makes their vision sharper. If they eat a tongue, it gives them the languages spoken by the victim. If they eat an ear, it sharpens their hearing. If they eat a nose, it sharpens their olfactory sense. If they eat a hand, it makes them more dexterous. If they eat a foot, it makes them more balanced. If they eat a spleen, it makes them more brave. If they eat a colon, it makes them more resistant to pain. If they eat a spine, it makes them more limber. If they eat a bladder, it makes them more buoyant.
Kilmoulis:
  • If a killmoulis eats the grain from a mill, they will have the ability to cause anything troublesome for the miller to occur.
  • They inhale food through their noses.
Unseelie:
  • An unseelie can craft darkness around themselves by pricking their fingers with an iron needle and tracing in the air.
  • They can see in the dark after blinking twice.
  • They can control boggarts through whispers at will.
  • They can smell fear.
  • They can render fear into a fluid and drink it for sustenance by standing behind someone without being seen and rubbing their hands together.
  • They will know what someone fears most simply by standing behind them without being seen.
Vila:
  • If a vila is glamoured, their beauty will cause intense envy in those who see them.
  • They can change their natural shape by washing with mink fat.
  • An angry vila can command a raging storm by using ancient swear words.
  • The voice of a vila can entrance someone if spoken in a lusty whisper.
  • Their touch is soothing.
  • Their touch can heal minor wounds if they are calm of heart.
  • They can instill controlling toxins with their touch if they are feeling spiteful.
  • They can control faeriesteeds or fey deer by biting their necks.
  • They memorize six false prophecies as children that they can adapt to any mortal.
  • When they dance, every one who is attracted to them is overcome with lust.
  • If their sweat falls in a circle while they dance, a fairy ring of mushrooms will grow, bringing bad luck to any who step into it.

  • The Man with the Burnt Leg.
  • He was burnt as a child for not listening to his parents, and now he must cook and eat children to stave off the pain.
Am Fear Liath Mor:
Arawn:
  • An unseelie king.
  • Arawn has legendary patience.
  • If he hunts something, it is his by right. If someone else is caught hunting it, they must exchange places with him for a year and a day. If they sleep with his wife in that time, they die at the end. If they remain chaste, Arawn befriends and rewards their family forever.
  • If one does not know who he is, one cannot defeat him in battle.
Bannisaer:
Black Annis:
  • The oldest unseelie, sister to The Queen.
  • She intentionally broke the mirror with her True Name, becoming a hag.
  • She is the only hag who can glamour. She gained this power by killing her first born daughter and drinking her moonblood on her twelfth birthday.
  • She eats children in order to gain new powers. Every 1,000 children gives her a new power. She can only have 13 powers at once, though.
  • If she cannot eat children, she eats lambs. Any other food is poisonous to her.
  • She has a blue face and iron claws.
  • She hangs the skins of lambs and children from trees to tan them, then hangs them from her waist. This gives her the power to mimic their sounds.
  • She can reach through the walls of a house to snatch people at night.
  • She uses her iron claws to dig into sandstone cliffs and mark her passage. This allows her to return at any time if no one has disturbed the markings.
  • She has a cave that is covered by an oak tree, which only she may enter.
  • Child-derived powers include being able to steal a soul with an evil eye, being able to whisper someone aflame, being able to break a crossroads by drawing in its center, and being able to drain emotions from someone by feeding them poisoned apples.
Bly:
  • One of the Cursed Thieves, one of the 40 Legendary Thieves.
  • He was cursed never to sleep again, so he must steal dreams in order to survive.
  • He can steal dreams by placing a towel over a sleeper's eyes. If they do not waken, the dreams soak into the towel.
  • He then drinks the runoff of the towel at dawn and escapes.
Bogeyman:
  • He has no specific appearance. He can be anything.
  • It appears as a group of whatever the targets fear most. He is legion.
  • The more it is feared, the stronger it is.
  • He can take on the appearance of a single individual if that one individual is what is feared.
  • If you do something horrible because of fear of him that causes fear in others, you fall under his influence.
Caillte Eagla:
Clurichaun:
  • Once the Leprechaun Manifest, he was taken by the Hunt and corrupted. Now he is the Fool of Misfortune.
  • He remembers his old life and drinks heavily. He is always drunk.
  • If one is kind to him, he will grant a ward (in the shape of a bottle) to protect one's wine. If one drinks from this bottle, however, one will die of drunkenness.
  • If one is unkind to him, he will curse one's wine to spoil.
  • He serves as a jester in the unseelie courts, and when he is unwitty, the unseelie punish him by making him do chores.
  • He hates those who steal wine, and he will punish them if he meets them. He always knows.
Doony:
  • Once a fay, now the charioteer for the Winter Courts.
  • He is the driver for the Unseelie Queen, and as such, he can teleport to any road within Frohm by hitching the reigns of his cart.
  • He can enter the Nightmare Realm by holding his breath for 30 seconds.
The Dreameater:
  • Nemesis of the Dreamguard.
  • Crafted of Thaegwyl's own nightmares.
  • The Dreameater is an iron-abomination that devours dreams and runs on them, a train that is powered by dreams.
  • It rides along invisible rails and haunts the night with its whistle.
  • Those who hear its whistle lose their dreams to the night.
The Fachen:
  • He has only half a body.
  • He has a peg leg that allows him to stand on liquid.
  • He has a mane of black feathers tufted at the top that allows him to fly.
  • He has a very wide mouth that is so frightening it produces heart attacks.
  • If it has a chain, it can destroy an orchard in a night using its withered arm.
  • The tufted feathers are impossible to tear out. It flies by pulling on these feathers.
Gancanagh:
  • A seductive male unseelie.
  • His skin has a toxin that is literally addictive to those he seduces.
  • Any who succumb to his seductions will die within a year, pining for him, if he does not return.
  • He carries a smoke pipe that produces no smoke, allowing him to smoke tobacco without offending his betters.
  • He is actually the Consequent of his kind, the gancanagh.
  • He is Nicneven's favored consort.
Ge:
  • Patroness of the Assemblage of Jasper.
Guno:

  • A rival unseelie king to Arawn.
  • He can be killed by a single stroke, but a second blow will restore him.

  • A crone that rides with Arawn.
  • Her prey is lost souls, shades, and other phantasms.
  • She drives the hounds with her wails and shrieks.
  • She was once beautiful, but she loved hunting so much, she declared her preference to it over heaven itself, and was thus cursed to be in the Wild Hunt. Her regret is palpable in her wails.
Nicnevin:
  • Queen of the Winter Court.
  • She has a mirror that allows her to see the whole of her domain if she washes it in milk.
  • She has a piece of yellow straw that she wears in her hair in order to make herself look humble and simple.
  • She has a bent nail that she scratches against stone, making a noise that will kill anything beautiful.
  • She knows what everyone fears after looking at them for six seconds.
  • She has 6 True Names naturally and 7 more unnaturally stitched on.
  • She can summon boggarts to the Waking Realm by snapping her fingers.
  • She has 6 special objects]]: a ring that lets her wear shadows, a ring that burns those who kiss it, a ring that controls demons, an ice sculpture that never melts that keeps her heart within it, a knife that cuts only traitors, and a thorn that drains characteristics from those it pricks.
  • If she wears a bone about her neck, she can see souls.
  • If her garment is hooded, she can become subtle by pulling it up.
  • Every third night, she can shatter stone with her whispers.
  • If she dances the spiral dance, all who watch will go mad.
  • She has a fishing hook that, if used, will cause the water it is in to boil.
  • She has a card that can be flipped six times. On the first flip, it will bring good luck to her. On the second, it will bring bad luck to her enemy. On the third, it will bring wild luck to her consort. On the fourth, it will bring trouble to her enemy's closest ally. On the fifth, it will bring remarkable fortune to her eldest living child. On the sixth, it will bring utter doom upon her enemy's eldest living child.
  • If she wears a mask, that mask will remain a horrifying mask for a year and a day afterward.
  • Her tongue is coated in disease.
  • Her feather vest is made from vulture, crow, fernwren, kestrel, grebe, shrike, peregrine, loon, cockatiel, besra, and whipbird feathers. If she plucks a feather, the wind will change. If she gives the feather to someone, something terrible will happen to them within 6 days.
  • If she is naked, cold will not harm her. If she is clothed in silk, fire cannot touch her. If she is clothed in velvet, electricity cannot harm her. If she is clothed in satin, she will not feel the wind and rain. If she is clothed in cotton, arrows may not pierce her. If she is clothed in anything black, no fist may strike her.
  • She will grow a fox's tail if she mates with a fox.
  • She knows the True Names of the north winds.
  • She can gain the powers of any unseelie or mixed court fey within 6 hours of meeting them.
Oksana Rusalka:
Phobia:
  • Consort of the Nightmare Divine.
  • A Name created for a child of the Nightmare Divine was taken by the Mother of Love and crafted instead into a Bride, but it backfired and she became a horror instead.
  • Phobia collects fears by riding through the night sky and whispering. Everyone who hears her whispers will think of their fears in that moment, and she will collect an example of them.

Sack Man:
  • A powerful boggart-lord who carries children away in a sack on his back. He is the half-brother to the Sandman and Father Midwinter.
  • He is a mean, ugly, skinny figure will eat the children he takes away in a sack.
  • He arrives around supper time. Any child not home by sundown will be taken away.
  • He is said to have been a husband to Baba Yaga.
  • He will hide by a river bank and cry like a lost baby to lure adults in to capture.
  • He has a cart drawn by black cats.
  • He weaves under a full moon to make clothes for his captives. If they take these clothes, they are his forever. They become Zwarte Piets, or "Black Petes." They serve him by sneaking out on Midwinter to take away naughty children after Father Midwinter has left them presents.
  • If he is caught in a child's room, he will jump under the bed and be taken away to the Nightmare Realm.
  • Though male, the sackman wears a dress made of rucksack. He wears a mask made of the flesh of his victims.
Scath Eagla:
Scissor Man:
  • A boggart-lord who is made from a mortal in a regenerative cycle.
  • The Scissor Man can be avoided in dreams if you dream you are someone else.
  • The Scissor Man can be harmed in dreams if you have a trinket of inspiration on in the Waking Realm.
  • The Scissor Man will kill you in dreams, and you will awaken with blood all over you. If this happens 13 times, you die for real.
  • If you slay him 3 times in dreams, he will stop haunting you.
  • Usually, unless directed by a powerful unseelie, he will hunt children who suck their thumbs.
Seolus Ironsword:
  • The fallen fir bolg warrior wields a black-iron sword that burns him to touch. His right hand is always scarred over.
  • His sword kills any fey with a single blow.
The Teind:
  • Every seven years, the fey pay the Hells a tithe of one of their best on Xanmas. This is the Teind.
  • The King called The Teind is the manifestation of the most powerful of these fey twisted by the Hells into one being.
  • All fey taken by the Hunt become unseelies. Part of every one of them ends up part of the being.
  • The Teind can command any fey that is part of him.
  • If he has straw, he can weave it into nightmare flames that burn only dreams.
  • So long as he wears his twisted crown, he is immune to fire, light, justice, control, and magic.
  • He has a sword made from the souls of ten thousand fallen teg and fir bolgs that is a rival to Gifted weapons. It is named Lann Fola ag Ithe.
  • At midnight every night, he can summon the the Wild Hunt by snapping his fingers.
  • If he wears red, he is impervious to blades.
  • He has the powers of every kind of unseelie.
Turmenton:
  • Fallen eshu.
Warg:
  • The Champion of Nightmare.
  • His howl causes a coma full of nightmares.
  • His teeth rend dreams and flesh.
  • His claws cause drowsiness if they do not kill.
  • His tail creates shadows as it wags.
  • His fur is made of darkness, flame, and horror.
  • He knows four rhymes that control all canines.
  • He can smell fear for a thousand miles around.
  • He can hear crying for a thousand miles around.
  • He can only be killed by something that he fears.
  • He can run through the Nightmare Realm by catching his tail.
