The Tradition is the cornerstone of the powers of the faerie realm. It is a set of rituals, beliefs, and objects that have power simply because they have always had power. The two most basic powers from the Tradition are glamouring and vanishing.

Summer Tradition . Seelie Tradition . Winter Tradition . Unseelie Tradition . Kindly Tradition . Unkindly Tradition . Wild Hunt Tradition . Courtless Tradition . Diversity Tradition . Other Tradition

General:
  • Most faeries can glamour themselves using certain ancient rhymes (varies by subrace).
  • Most faeries can vanish and become insubstantial by speaking their True Name into a mirror.
  • If they do not speak their True Name backwards into that same mirror in half a minute, most faeries lose their True Names.
  • A circle of salt will protect a faerie from supernatural powers for as long as it goes undisturbed.
  • Iron or steel will bind a faerie into powerlessness. An iron horseshoe nailed over a door will bar a faerie from entering a house.
  • Any fey being may summon a faeriesteed or cheval mallet (seelie or unseelie court respectively) by whistling three special notes.
  • Most faeries detest tobacco smoke, and it can be used to stave them off. This is just a preference, however, and not a weakness.
