The Precepts of Basalt are a series of religious laws set down by a woman named Basalt who claims to be a Messiah. Her followers are extremely devout and seek to spread the word of her new faith on Ruiz.

1. Falsehood:
On Ruiz, the faith of the Deceiver is extremely powerful. The followers of the Deceiver hate the Precept faith with a dark passion, and they seek at every turn to discredit followers of it. A group of Precepts in a small frontier town is accused of heresy by hidden followers of the Deceiver and set to trial. Players would be Precepts not under accusation seeking to exonerate their friend.

2. Assassination:
Basalt is assassinated on Shem, and the news reaches Ruiz ten days later. Players would be Precepts coping with this loss, with the disconnect between when it happened and their learning of it, and the resultant backlash from the local populace against them because of the news' implications of the validity of their faith.

3. Corruption:
The Pilgrims of the Precepts are the first Precepts to arrive on Ruiz and the most powerful. Once news of the assassination reaches them, they set a group of themselves to investigate it from afar. Players would be the investigators.
