St. Theresa

A changeling who is the greatest arcanist alive, leader of the Order of St. Theresa, and nemesis of Srisia.

Biography

On First Shem, a changeling was born unto an elf and a fairy of unknown background. The elf was of the Dwonnic nation, and St. Theresa, whose True Name and given name are unknown to history, was raised in a household where information helped avoid strict treatment. Using the powers she learned from her fey parent, she was able to make a living as a teenager selling information, and she quickly became a sought-after broker with a wide-ranging network. A chance meeting (and tryst) with the legendary adventurer Samuel Jericho led her to a rapid rise into world politics as she became embroiled in the machinations of the early Srisian cult and the followers of Dostizheniye. She garnered a great dislike of these and others like them. Toward the end of First Shem, she witnessed the rise of the Runners and took up the secret role of Runner Zero, which allowed her to developed the legendary art of Runner Sign, an early arcane art. She became the primary nemesis of the Prophetess of the Spider, who seemed the only one to rival her in terms of her network of information - and the only one who knew who she was to any degree.

On Second Shem, she found herself at the center of Divine politics, pulling back from being a known entity, masking herself deeper and deeper in secrecy. As someone with elven blood, she was subjected to the transformations that happened when the elven nations were evolved by the quests of the Last Elves. As the Dwonnic nation transformed into the spiderkin, so too did St. Theresa take on that form, mixed with her fey blood as well, taking on a new form and gaining insights into the powers of the Spider God. When the Death of Magic occurred, she was one of the few to survive it without losing significant amounts of power. Instead, her curated collection of secrets and her extensive network became the world's foremost arcanists. She began developing new layers to her network.

On Third Shem, none truly know where, who, or what she is. Most even in her Order believe her to be a legend, if they have heard of her at all. She lives in the shadows of her own Library, which she founded at the start of Third Shem, and has an agenda known only to herself.
