Other Damage

While these forms of damage may occur during combat, they are listed here as separate forms of damage due to being less common that weapon attacks.

Note: I use the standard system of measure, not metric, only because I don’t understand metric. I get the math of it, but I don’t have a concept of size for it. I can’t imagine how long a kilometer is or how much a liter is, but I know miles and quarts. I have no problem with metric. I just never got to learn it. Feel free to convert and round off as wanted.

Environmental Damage

These are various environmental hazards and features and their corresponding damage ratings or strength:
SourceSorted ascending Type Damage Rating Avoidance Notes
Broken glass Cutting/Slashing 4/8/13/19 PRO vs size of pane of glass (5 for small, +3 per level above that, capping at 17 for full body pane of glass) If you break a piece of glass, like a window, there's a chance of cutting yourself
Collapsing building Concussive 8/15/22/29 ATH vs where you are in the building and how big it is
Falling into furniture Concussive/Piercing 4/9/14/19 ATH vs fall rating (based on size of furniture) In a fight, if you are thrown into or fall into a table or chair or whatever
Falling shelves/wall Concussive 6/11/16/21 ATH vs size of shelves/wall (5 for small, +3 per level above that, capping at 26 for massive, wall-sized shelves or full wall)
Rolling boulder Concussive 6/12/18/24 ATH vs speed and size of boulder Assumes a human-sized boulder; different sizes may go up or down in damage rating
Running into clotheslines Slashing/Choking 3/7/11/15 ATH vs visibility of clothesline
Slipping and falling Falling 5/10/15/20 ATH vs slip rating
Spinning fans Slashing 5/9/14/19 ATH or PRO vs speed of the fan Assuming the fan is an industrial fan with heavy blades
Splintering wood Piercing/Concussive 4/10/16/22 PRO vs size of wood (5 for small, +3 per level above that, capping at 32 for a full redwood) If you smash a piece of wood, what damage do you take
Viewing of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective Emotional/Mental 9/18/27/36 AWA vs 25 +6 more if you're trans
Waves/tidal strength Concussive/Grappling STR 8 to 22 ATH or swim vs tidal strength

Erosive and Scouring

Erosion and scouring of the body is a form of damage coming from rubbing or rough materials, like sand or similar. Scouring attacks build up damage rating over time, going up +1 per three rounds for the first three points, then +1 per two rounds for the next three points, then +1 per round for the next three, then +2 per round for the next six, then +3 per round thereafter.

Noise

Loud noises can harm the ears and even the whole body if they are loud enough. Prolonged exposure to loud noises can cause hearing loss. Distance, time of exposure, and loudness all effect the damage rating. Damage is assumed to be against hearing only until it hits 190 dB, which causes physical harm.
Volume Example Damage rating Time till damage increase Safe distance
0 dB Barely hearable N/A N/A N/A
10 dB Quiet breath N/A N/A N/A
20 dB Whisper N/A N/A N/A
30 dB Rustling leaves N/A N/A N/A
40 dB Electrical humming N/A N/A N/A
50 dB Rainfall N/A N/A N/A
60 dB Average speech N/A N/A N/A
70 dB Vacuum cleaner .25 2 hours 100’
80 dB Heavy traffic .5 2 hours 200’
90 dB Lawnmower .75 2 hours 500’
100 dB Loud revving engine 1 90 minutes 750’
110 dB Rock’n’fucking roll 2 1 hour 1,000’
120 dB Sirens 3 30 minutes 1,00’
130 dB Jackhammer 4 15 minutes 1,000’
140 dB Jet engine 6 7.5 minutes 1,000’
150 dB Fireworks or rifle 8 3.75 minutes 1,000’
160 dB Shotgun 10 1.375 minutes 1,000’
170 dB Cannon 12 30 seconds 1,200’
180 dB Rocket launch 14 3 seconds 1,500’
190 dB Soundwaves become shockwaves 16 (hearing) 8 (physical) Instant 2,000’
Temporary hearing loss will occur on a normal failure. Special failure means minor permanent hearing loss. Exceptional failure means tinnitus and permanent moderate hearing loss. Critical failure means major hearing loss.

If enough time passes, damage will increase by +2 per time period of increase
