Hunger

Hunger and malnourishment affect the body tremendously, but some can survive longer without food than others. How long one can go without food depends on their size and health, their activity level, their current nutrition, and more. This damage rating chart assumes an average human.

Here, we are assuming hunger without thirst - without water, hunger is irrelevant. Refer to the thirst chart below.

Damage can begin in as many as three days, but true danger to life starts within seven days. Some can last as long as three months. For lack of a better metric, we use STR to indicate health level, unless the character has a substat or other characteristic. Anyone with under 8 STR sees hunger damage ratings go up by 2 per point below 8. Those with STR above 10 see hunger damage ratings go down by 1 point per 3 points above 10, starting at 11.

96 days 18 Irreversible body loss
After 96 days, the damage rating goes up three points per every two days. After 120 days, it is three points every day. After 150 days, it is three points every eight hours.

Other symptoms include hair loss, hearing loss, vision loss, fatigue, shortness of breath, feeling cold, loss of menstruation, paleness and anemia, dry skin, constipation, and lack of oxygen in blood. These start after a week.

Permanent STR loss starts after one week. Every exceptional failure after a week sees one point of STR loss, critical failures are three points.

Death comes on three critical failures, six exceptional, twelve special, 24 normal, or 48 ties.

Thirst

Lack of water kills you fast. In three days time, lack of water is at fatal damage levels. While size and health and other factors may alter this slightly almost any being who needs water dies at the same rate without it.
