Description The Kupenya Nyoka appear to be anthropomorphic serpents with feathered wings. Their wings and scales are all the colors of light. They stand about 9' tall on average, and they tend to have long, shimmering tails. Their eyes are always one of the seven main colors of the spectrum (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet).
Procreation Kupenya Nyoka only procreate with one another or other mafi girma, with the children sharing the nation/species of the birthing parent.
Esoterica Kupenya Nyoka are beings of radiant energies. They contain radiance, liberation power, euphony, euergasia, euphoria, euphotonia, euskepisa, yahas, curacion, and glory. They also contain dumaqu and Elysian essence. They can wield all of these extremely well. They can also use any other heavenly essence (celeste water, virtue, hegnh, banaru, ujjval aatma, waarheid, iremia, lhair, or ancestral memory) or aetherial essence (mostly the bright, ma'dhahabi, nzwara murazvo, conflueverant, or bijalee) or nommic energy (mostly dream energy).
Special Powers

There are seven types of Kupenya Nyoka:

  • Red: those with mostly red coloration have the ability to empower others with their gaze and the ability to empower themselves in the face of great danger by expanding their wings to full span. (Glory)
  • Orange: those with mostly orange coloration have the ability to empower others with their breath and the ability to empower themselves in the face of an oppressor by expanding their wings to full span. (Liberation Power)
  • Yellow: those with mostly yellow coloration have the ability to empower others with their touch and the ability to empower themselves in the face of inexperience by expanding their wings to full span. (Euskepsia)
  • Green: those with mostly green coloration have the ability to empower others with their voice and the ability to empower themselves in the face of disruption and divisiveness by expanding their wings to full span. (Euphony)
  • Blue: those with mostly blue coloration have the ability to empower others with their handshake and the ability to empower themselves in the face of exploitation by expanding their wings to full span. (Euergasia)
  • Indigo: those with mostly indigo coloration have the ability to empower others with their tails and the ability to empower themselves in the face of division and selfishness by expanding their wings to full span. (Yahas)
  • Violet: those with mostly violet coloration have the ability to empower others with their embrace and the ability to empower themselves in the face of sorrow and pain by expanding their wings ot full span. (Euphoria)

All Kupenya Nyoka can create rainbows at will (Euphotonia) and heal others (Curacion) with their blood. Their rainbows are radiant and will give strength to those who see them.

Their wings allow them to fly, their bites are venomous, and their scales give them greater toughness.

Service As servitors of Mai Haske, they can invoke the rainbow serpent's might, even as they are sealed in the Lesedian Mirror, by shouting the words Waryana Ulcaro. Doing so will invoke an effect reflecting Mai Haske's will.
Weaknesses Arnic energies harms them.
Culture

During the last War of the Gods, Mai Haske was engaged in battle with Aam'nal, the Grey King, high above the western Taggaran forests, when she experienced a terrible wound. Their blood spilled upon the land, and their body landed nearby. Knowing they needed help, they created the Kupenya Nyoka from their blood there on the ground, and their freshly formed servitors took up the fight while the rainbow serpent recovered. Later during the war, Mai Haske was sealed by enemies of goodness and radiance into the Lesedian Mirror, the source of all bright aether and magical light. The Kupenya Nyoka suffered with their mother sealed away, but they persevered, and, after the war, they settled near where they were created. Adopting local language and customs as well as bringing their own, they started a small secluded community where they could heal.

The Kupenya Nyoka have a small, matriarchal society that is protected by a wall of rainbows. Those who find them must prove themselves to be worthy, and any who enter their community are given support and succor. Their community is focused on the eventual release of Mai Haske, and thus, they engage in study, quests, and work that will lead to that goal as much as possible. As inmortals, they have few children, but when they do, the whole community raises them. They do not have any traditional paths for coming of age, as it is so rare and they are so few. Instead, each child's experiences end up being very different, depending on the times and circumstances. However, they are always encouraged to find themselves, their own path, and their own place in Kupenya Nyoka society (or not, if they feel the need, though this has only happened once--one who went out to seek personal empowerment over communal empowerment).

The leader of the Kupenya Nyoka is their Manifest, Jini Uwa, who rose first from Mai Haske's blood. She is their eldest and most powerful, and she is revered as their wisest, though she listens to them all. In effect, she simply is the one who they turn to for the final word during communal decision making, the one who determines when to vote, and the one who defaults as leader in times of crisis. The other original Kupenya Nyoka (of which there are 80) make up the main council of elders. The rest of the nation take on different roles at different times depending on need.

They have a beautiful fruit tree orchard that surrounds their town and is suffused with the rainbows that protect them.

Religion Kupenya Nyoka respect the Nine Divines of the Radiant Spectrum, but they do not worship them. They honor Mai Haske as their mother and progenitor, but their faith is in radiance itself, in the forces of empowerment and kindness, and their religious philosophy reflects that. They worship, more or less, themselves, seeing themselves as equal or greater to Divines (and in this they are not entirely wrong) in terms of their power over radiance. They are allies to the Divines, not their followers or servants. They only serve Mai Haske. This is more or less reciprocated by the Divines. They practice a few religious ceremonies each year, led by Jini Uwa or one of the other elders, always in thanks to Mai Haske, but they mostly all teach each other the guiding principles of empowerment and liberation.
Gender There is no concept of gender among the Kupenya Nyoka. Different pronouns are used for different members of their nation by outsiders to conform to other views of gender, but among them everyone is unique, and always referred to by name.
Military All Kupenya Nyoka are trained to fight, as there are many dangers in the world, and they are skilled warriors. But they have no formal military.
Other Nations The Kupenya Nyoka are considered the same species as other mafi girma, but there are no other children of Mai Haske who form a distinct nation.
Outside View Most have no idea they exist. Some that do think of them as angels or even Divines, but those who know and understand what they are either view them as allies in the fight against oppression and evil or enemies if they are evil.
