In Mwyr Aeld in the latter parts of its time as a slaving empire,
Gwenwyn Cusan, a
doppelganger third gender, became High King. They managed to maneuver into a risky situation that would win them control of the empire's mines in the north. Historically, Gwenwyn succeeds and uses the metals to advance the military of the empire, keeping it from being conquered by Kael'Ras 53 years later. In the Fragmentation, however, the rival political forces up against the High King have surprising support.
Duke
Haern Trwyn, the primary rival to the High King, historically should be tricked by the High King's ruse of disguising a shipment of gold as crops, but a Seinamian mystic from 5,000 years before has given him the power to see through it. Duchess
Llinell Gwyrdd, the closest ally to the High King, should be able to poison her cousin, the slave-keeper
Tafod Cadwynog, but Tafod has consumed the form of a
bronze dragon from Fengara from 190 years into the future, giving her a body that is resistant to the poison. The Amolothian high priestess
Undhurseera from 1,100 years before the time of the High King ends up as a slave of Duke Trwyn, which allows him access to metapolitics and insights as well, and a slave rebellion led by the
minotaur warrior
Kzedes Naiockhaad from 200 years ago in Haurkizadh threatens the whole empire.
Players would have to entrench themselves in the politics in order to sort out who and what to do.
