What is the character's name? Anastasia Elisavet Lelyaro Quentahína Spyrosiel Idhrenides. "Stasi" for short.
What is the character's occupation? Scholar
What is the character's nationality? Pallanian by birth; she spent the vast majority of her childhood in Idangar, however, as her mother was a forester who wished to learn from the best and moved the family there. Stasi thus considers herself a citizen of both nations.
What is the character's species? Pallanian Elf
What is the character's religion? Wisdom-faithful, with a minor trinity of Story, Travel, and Knowledge. There is much knowledge in the world, and one cannot learn all there is to know if one does not travel. In travelling, one may gain the knowledge that there is to be found, and in doing so learn the stories and tales of many different cultures and peoples. In this way, the knowledge is built upon and rounded out, and it is in this way that wisdom - true Wisdom - is found. That is her philosophy.
What is the character's level of education? Doctorate in linguistics, historiography (quite literally the study of narrative history, how and why things are remembered and memorialized, etc.), and possibly one or two other areas of interest.
What is the character's economic status? well-off; at least enough to travel nigh-constantly.
What are the character's hobbies or other interests? The arts, particularly visual. She enjoys sketching and painting when she has the time, as well as writing, and has been known to try her hand at acting as well. She is also fascinated by oral traditions, legends and history and anything else, and has a very deep interest in the culture and history of Rendru, Idangar, and Murja.
What is the character's family like? Mother Petra, Father Spyros, Older sister Sorosiphina
What is the character's personality like? Stasi is a woman who is confident in herself. She does not sit idly by when she has something to do, and if she doesn't know what to do then she goes and finds out. She doesn't take much guff from anyone, though she does enjoy a friendly joke as much as the next person. As a scholar, she is naturally studious and curious and finds enjoyment in research and learning the answer to any given question; she takes more pleasure in finding the use for said answer, gaining the wisdom to use her knowledge as it were.
Is the character a part of any groups or associations or guilds? Not to my knowledge. I'm open to suggestions. <--I'll get back to you on this.
Tell me about the character's friends. Sebestyén Bárány, Idangar classmate, his specialty was politics and history; Kimiko Yamamoto, Tenzanese priestess of Story; Bai Cheung, Agikaani historian. Possibly others. <--Agikaani historian as in he studies Agikaani history, or he's Agikaani and studies general history? Or both? Also, Agikaanis are in a time of turmoil and political upheaval. He's either an exile or a hardline racist. He studies history and happens to be Agikaani.
Tell me about the character's enemies. Probably mostly academic rivals. At least, to her knowledge. All save one: a man whose name she doesn't know but whose face still turns up in her nightmares sometimes, who raped her when she was perhaps 150 years old.
How old is the character? Roughly 300 (human-equivalent 30)
What was the character's upbringing like? Fairly egalitarian, insomuch as such would have been possible. Her mother is a forester, which prompted the family moving to Idangar when Stasi was very young. Her father was a botanist with professional contacts all over Shem, the better to learn about the plants of the world. Both were hardworking and raised her with the belief that if you want something, then you A: don't wait around for it to come to you, and B: you damn well go after it yourself. If you don't want it enough to get it yourself, then you don't need it as much as you think you do.
Does the character have any significant possessions? She is never without her journal and something to write with.
How socially able is the character? She gets on well with most people - and if she doesn't she can usually hide it long enough to survive a short conversation. She's got enough knowledge of etiquette to get by in most higher circles, though she's never been faced with actual royalty yet and mostly deals with academic authority.
Does the character have a romantic interest or history? She has had a few gentleman friends over the years, though nothing really major or lasting to date. No offspring, either.
Is the character healthy? Yes.
What are the character's ethics or morals? Right or Wrong does not necessarily matter. What's most important is which way you face. Try to keep to the light where possible, but never, if it can possibly be avoided, face the darkness. Were she in D&D, she'd be Neutral Good.
Is the character instinctual, emotional, logical, or something else? She is a blend of emotion and logic, and has the capability of drawing on either side as needed.
How much does the character understand of the world and cosmology? if she's educated, she should have a solid grasp on this She might, but I don't, so I don't know how to express this. Just ask me questions when relevant. Also, I hope to have a lot of information up in the coming weeks.
What level of experience does the character have with the world? She has been travelling nigh-constantly since she completed her studies at the university in (what she sees as) her home-town (the city in Idangar she was raised in). Often as a way of getting money she volunteers to teach in some of the smaller towns and villages she passes through.
What does the character fear? She does not like the idea of boats or being in any water more extensive than a bathtub after an incident in her childhood. The entire family had gone canoeing on a nearby lake, and her sister accidentally hit her with an oar as she switched paddling sides, dazing her and sending her overboard. Her father had to jump in after her and physically pull her out of the water to keep her from drowning. <--Palhur, Mati, Ranu, Jesenya, Lyrilla, Taggarus, and Dabusen are connected by the Island Bridge, but that's an incredibly dangerous journey. so, how does she get around without using boats? She manages to cope by differentiating between ships, which have multiple decks and places for her to be that aren't right on the side of the thing, and boats, which are anything from a dinghy down to a raft. Basically, anything where she can't convince herself she won't fall overboard and drown, she has trouble boarding. She does not go swimming, though she has enough ability to keep herself afloat. Yeah, in the intervening time, I had an inspiration. The continents and everything are now connected via functioning Waygates.
What hopes and dreams does the character have? One of her biggest dreams is to establish - or lead, since given Shem I'm pretty sure this already exists somewhere - the world's largest library.
What is the worst thing the character ever did? One of Sorosophina's suitors was found stealing from her; Stasi set plans in motion that financially ruined the guy as revenge.
What is the best thing the character ever did? Helped build/establish elementary schools in several small villages in her travels; every child deserves a chance to learn.
What is the character's greatest flaw? Probably her temper. For a blonde she's pretty fiery. <--that's hairist.
What is the character's greatest strength? Her sense of loyalty. If you're her friend, you've got someone who not only has your back, but will avenge you if you fall.
What line won't the character cross? Under no circumstances will she murder innocents. She'll avoid collateral damage wherever possible, even if it means it will take her years to accomplish what she's trying to do; the only recipient of her wrath is the one who deserves it.
What does the character look like? Typical elven height and build, which is to say tall and slender. Long hair with just enough of a yellow tint in it to class it as blonde rather than purely white, and piercing blue eyes.
Are there any symbols associated with the character? She likes dragonflies and, oddly, ravens. The latter is spurred by her interest in Rendru, Idangar, Murja, and their cultures. <--just know that all Shemmish dragonflies are huge
What are the player's out of character goals? Stasi is a test for me to actually assert myself/my character (awesome). As she is not someone who will sit quietly by and let others take the lead when she sees something to do, I will need to actually put myself out there more forcefully to do her justice. I've had two characters that were supposed to be leaders (Avery and Royce) who weren't because I never pushed forward on that score, and Stasi is meant to be a stepping-stone to that ability.
