Description At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, dragons grow to be vast, reddish-hued beasts with 16 heads, 16 tails, 16 legs, 16 wings, and 16 horns on each head. They have huge white eyes with no pupils or irises, reptilian faces, aquiline legs, and scorpion-like tails.
Procreation Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching.
Esoterica Vermeil dragons accumulate Damaskian power, shebv heya, muscle, determination resonance, psionics, the gates, mystery, mashoaab, fate, and belligerence resonance bonded by ethereal energy. Divine energies are possible, but no others are.
Special Powers

Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they accumulate . The usual progression of powers is as follows:

  • Level 1: Explosive fireball breath weapon
  • Level 2: Immunity to mundane weapons
  • Level 3: Immunity to power drain
  • Level 4: Immunity to memory loss
  • Level 5: Scale grants bearer draconic strength
  • Level 6: Impenetrable wall
  • Level 7: Invincibility, one hour, once per year
  • Level 8: Dream walk
  • Level 9: Sense weakness
  • Level 10: Grant invisibility
  • Level 11: Summon Vermeil brannishes or valkyries
  • Level 12: Commune with army

All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects.

Other common powers include instill weapons mastery, killing gaze, sense secrets, binding fate, cause economic depression, lightspeed travel, break mountain, sheild Name, instill hunting skill, skill drain, and invoke equilibrium.

Alternate Forms Vermeil dragons sometimes take the form of Vermeil brannishes.
Weaknesses Mental and emotional assaults can harm them.

Culture Vermeil dragons lay their eggs on mountain cliffsides, where they help raise the young, but at a remove, toughening them up. The whole community takes part in this. They work together as a unit bonded by hard circumstances, and they are very territorial and belligerent. Their elders are respected for wisdom but removed from leadership if they show any sign of weakness. They forge alliances or demand subservience from locals nearby to build their hoards.
