The Simon family turned them down, of course, but they eventually found the bombastic Wathite Veheshperin Manastorm on one of her wild adventures. They made her the offer thrice, and she turned them down, so they turned to a few decent scholarly sorts. But they never gave up on Veheshperin. They knew they wanted someone with world experience, powerful magicks, and no fear. They wanted someone who would get involved, and someone who would not balk at the impossible. So they kept an eye on her, and one day, fortune favored them but not Veheshperin--the Wathite sorceress was crippled in a magical accident that took her sight, her arm, and her tongue. Undeterred, the Monsapples pursued her with offers of a new arm, a new tongue, and magical sights. She rebuked them each time, but when they came to her with an offer of a place in Parliament, she relented, too honored to say no. She now has a new arm, a new tongue, and magical vision as well.
