Eloko

pl. biloko. These spirits dwell in deep rain forests in the center of the southern continents. They protect the animals and fruits of the forests, dress in leaves, live in hollowed trees, have grass growing on their bodies (and no hair), piercing eyes, sharp claws, and snouts that open to swallow humans whole. They use bells to lure people to them or charm them. [Mongo-Nkundo]

Pisky

Ranging from 5" to 5.5' tall, piskies change forms often. They are known for a wide variety of charms and are a very common fairy. They have a lot of complicated magic and insights, but they are chaotic and mischievious. They are middle-ranking in Faerie.

Puca

Many-formed fairies with numerous appearances, their commonest form is a tall animalistic fairy form. They are the most potent tricksters in all of Faerie, and they are often found in high-ranking positions, if they are known at all - they love to be secretive and work in the shadows. They are sometimes thought to be more powerful even than the aos si.

Polevik

Poleviki (female poludnisa) are 5’ tall spirits with two different colored eyes. Their hair is grass. They live in fields and come out at noon or sunset. They wear all black or all white. If one wishes to cross their territory, they require an offering of two eggs, a rooster, a toad, and a crow placed next to the field. They will lure people into the fields and lead them astray, inflict disease, or run them over with their own horses, if the person offends or upsets them. They hate the stench of alcohol and treat people who are drunk very harshly. Poludnisa are taller, wear all white dresses, and appear at midday. They pull peasant’s hair and help lost children in the cornfields.

Xhindi

Xhindi are a contradiction: they are invisible but demand to noticed. They are need tribute but refuse to be found.

Xhindis are short fey spirits with pointed ears, often confused with small elves, who can turn invisible easily. They spend most of their time invisible, and when they need to be visible, they disguise themselves heavily. Some say they do not breathe. They come out at night and hide in places where people are most vulnerable. They like gardens and river mouths and spots where raindrops fall into water, but they will lurk in settled areas and sneak into bathrooms or bedrooms as well. Lights flicker and doors creak as they move through, and they leave footprints even when invisible. They are good at throwing their soft whispers. They often have a slight aura of cold. If they gaze at someone, the person will sense it but not be able to see them.

They may be kind or cruel depending on how they are treated. They are often protectors of houses, and if treated well, they will bring good fortune and wisdom to those they dwell with. If they are offended or neglected, they unleash noise, disease, paranoia and hallucinations and delusions, and harassment. They are extremely territorial.

To appease them, the house must leave out a saucer of milk on the back step with a small coin. The milk will be gone the next day, and no one in the house must question whether it was the xhindi or not or they will cause offense. Never try to find the xhindi or they will become violent.

They have charms to control sound, move small objects, or possess people or animals. If they possess someone or an animal, the possessed will suffer from fever, confusion, and aloofness.

Xhindi can be repelled with iron scissors or broomsticks placed beneath a mattress (often the baby’s or the most vulnerable in the house). If someone slept under a fig tree, it would attract the xhindi. They dislike religious households if they pray too much.

Yehasuri

2’ tall spirits living in tree stumps in the southwestern continent. They eat frogs and bugs. They are repelled by tobacco rubbed on one’s hand and a special chant. They are very mischievous and can be mean on occasion.
