Celestial Witches
Those who wield ritual and cyclical celestial or popular magic.
Jednaca
Type: Crone
A jednaca is a witch whose soul has found balance with the oppressed and exploited people she serves.
Jednaci are oppressed people who have found a community and serve them as a witch - a healer, a protector, a confidant, an adviser, a coordinator. Someone they can go to for help in any situation, especially involving injustice or inequality. Jednaci are part of their communities and equal among them, even if they have respect from those they serve.
They often are taught and helped by other jednaci, usually one to three, who live among their community, and do not come into their power until they are older. Though they have minor magic for most of their lives and know the ways of herbalism and healing, advising and listening, coordinating and sharing, their true magic comes when they find a deep inner balance in their souls.
When this happens, often when they have been working as a jednaca for decades, they gain powerful magical spells:
- Ward of the oppressed: a protective ward they can place on someone who is oppressed.
- Ward of the exploited: a protective ward they can place on someone who is exploited.
- Soulsight: the power to see the magical essence of others.
- Soulbinding: the power to seal a part of someone’s magical essence, preventing them from using a soul-based magical power.
- Aura of equality: an aura around them that brings equality in scores temporarily.
- Invocation of balance: an invocation that creates a balance of power between the jednaca and her opponent.
- Soulbolt: blast of pure soul essence that can damage the soul of an enemy of her people.
- Essence of two: a temporary drawing of magic from another person, doubling the ESS score of the jednaca only in order to protect that person.
Jednaci are criminalized in imperial lands.

Khitrazhena
Type: Crone
Khitrazheni are cunning women. They wield celestial magicks via their breath, which allows them to heal, protect, and bond with others. Khitrazheni come from ancient and hidden traditions, and they often learn their magic from other khitrazheni.
The witchcraft of the khitrazheni is from their own cleverness. It is their ability to outwit the powerful, their skill at crafting something useful, their understanding of the needs of the people, all from their own mind and calm. They see themselves as greyhounds. Swift of foot, keen of sense, determined and focused.
A khitrazhena learns her magic and craft from older witches who teach them everything, train them to be resourceful and cunning in service to their community, and to recognize their oppressors and enemies and fight them with trickery, not brawn. They learn many spells, some of which are designed to protect, some to heal, and some to bond:
- Breath release: they release their soul via their breath, allowing them to possess the sick and heal them.
- Greyhound soul: they can put their soul into and bond with a greyhound.
- Repelling ward: they can ward themselves with a spell that repels infernal magicks.
- Trick spell: they can cast a spell that deceives the target as to its purpose.
- Farsight: they can see over vast distances.
They are very oppressed by the imperials, but they are celebrated in Vsemy and Jedinstven. They usually keep greyhounds as pets.

Otporanca
Type: Daughter
An otporanca is a witch who fights imperial powers and gains magic from her resistance.
Otporanci are witches who fight for liberation. They were a major part of the war of liberation that created Jedinstven. They were community organizers, leaders of women (and anyone oppressed by patriarchy), and icons of resistance. Post-revolution, they are still fighters for equality and rights if they live in Jedinstven (or Vsemy), but many are found in imperial lands where they are illegally organizing to fight the powers-that-be.
Their magic comes from resisting oppression, exploitation, and abuse. Every act of resistance generates some magic within them. If they bring others into it, it grows stronger. As witches, they use their knowledge of healing, protection, coordination, and of people themselves to fight back, to counteract the effects of oppression, to actively engage and fight the authorities of feudal power. They free slaves and serfs, steal food for the hungry, money for the poor, and shelter for the homeless. They are organizers.
And all of this gives them magic. They mix ideologies of liberation with the arts of witchcraft, creating rites that serve them, rites fueled by their day-to-day resistance:
- Rite of liberation: a powerful rite that takes nine days to complete and requires the support of a third of an entire community, this spell will empower up to 100 people’s base stats in actions fighting tyranny, oppression, or abuse.
- Charm of conscious raising: they may cast a simple charm that gives bonuses to figuring out class oppression.
- Rallying song: they may sing a special song that can only be heard by the class- or oppression-conscious that draws them together in a specific community.
- Ward of the oppressed: they may place a ward on an oppressed person to give them magical protections.
- Chain-breaking spell: a very literal spell, it breaks actual chains with a small bolt of orange energy.
- Armor of resistance: if someone engages in an act of resistance against tyranny, oppression, or abuse, this armor will magically enshroud them in orange light to give them temporary defense.
- People’s heart: they can connect the hearts of the oppressed or abused within a specific area to allow them to silently coordinate.
- Worker’s rest: they may give a deep, restorative rest to the exploited, allowing them to heal quicker and better.
- Spell of mutual aid: they may provide food, shelter, small amounts of money, water, or other necessities to up to ten people in need with this spell, which takes a day to complete.
Otporanci are heavily criminalized and demonized by imperial powers.

Vajarka
Type: Mother
A vajarka is a witch who has an ancestral connection via her matrilineal line to before the Fall. There are many ways this is achieved, but most involve being raised to reject patriarchal ideals or finding a path to rejecting them as an adult, then performing special rites under the tutelage of another vajarka.
Almost anyone can access their ancestral memory, though it is not easy, but to access ancestors from before the Fall requires eradicating all patriarchal assumptions and indoctrinations first. One must be entirely free of patriarchal values to be able to go back that far. Once someone breaks past that barrier, they may access it only briefly without being drawn into it. Most, therefore, either connect with a single ancestor or a small number of them, only go back occasionally, or they focus on one kind of ancestor.
They often have an ancestral guide, one from just before the Fall, and a handful of preferred ancestors to connect with. In order to access them, they associate some object with them. They use that focus to instantly connect and gain wisdom or advice. They can also draw spells, powers, skills, and abilities from their preferred ancestors, but in order to do this, they need to spend more time and effort than a quick connection via their focus. Usually, they need to enter a trance (using meditation and an hallucinogen) for a few hours and find the spell, ability, skill, or power in a symbolic vision, led by their ancestral guide. Any skill, power, or ability drawn from their ancestors may only be temporary. If they hold onto it for more than a few hours, they risk having the ancestor's memories overtake and replace their own.
A vajarka chooses what powers, skills, and abilities they seek based on the needs of their community. This magic is heavily forbidden in imperial lands. Vajarka are always hunted by witchfinders.
The spells that they draw depend on their ancestors, but they are always centered on resisting patriarchal powers. Some examples include the following:
- Defense of the body: protects a woman’s body from attack
- Cyclical healing: healing on a cyclical basis
- Autonomous strength: gives a person the ability to control their body
- Rite of separation: helps a woman leave an abuser
- Forbidden knowledge: learn things denied them
Many, many other spells are possible. Consult the GM.

Voyzhen
Type: Mother
Voyzheni are witches who are devoted to protecting the meek and oppressed. They specialize in wards of protection, and they learn this from their mentors or community. Their magic is forbidden in imperial lands, but common in Vsemy and Jedinstven.
To wield the magicks of protection, a voyzheni must prove themself devoted to protecting the meek and oppressed. They must be trained to recognize abuse, oppression, exploitation, and other imperial methods, and they must be taught a sense of justice and right that aligns with popular magic.
It often starts with them standing up for another in their community on their own, without use of magic. Whether this results in a success or not does not matter - what matters if they tried to stick up for someone. If they do this, a spark of the magic forms in them, and they can be taught to draw from it. So long as they live up to these values and never become abusive, exploitative, or oppressive of the meek themselves, they may draw from the power.
They are taught rites and rituals that allow them to create special and specific wards. Some common wards include the following:
- Ward against abuser: this ward must specify the abuser and gives the bearer protections from any harmful action from that person if they were their victim previously.
- Ward against witchfinding: this ward protects people who might be targeted by witchfinders.
- Ward against ghosts: this ward protects from phantasmal undead.
- Ward against vampires: this ward protects from vampires and all their magicks.
- Ward against indoctrinator: this ward makes a person, especially a child, less susceptible to imperial lies.
- Ward against manipulator: this ward must specify the manipulator and gives the bearer protections if they were manipulated by this person in the past.
- Ward against corpses: this ward protects from corporeal undead.
And so on. The ward usually needs to either specify a narrow category, a specific person, place or thing, or a type of magic. The more things that fit the ward’s protections, the weaker the ward is - i.e., if the ward is against everything, it will be powerless. If it is against one specific dagger, it is very strong. Even stronger if it is against a specific dagger wielded by a specific person at a specific time. And so on. By being very acute in their warding, they make the ward strong enough to protect when and where it needs to.
