Liyaya
The short-lived fey.
- Lifespan: 40 years
- Diet: Fey fare
- Habitat: Anywhere
- Socioeconomic Status: Privileged oppressed
Liyayas are 6’ tall fey with brown hair, reddish skin, pointy ears, and donkey tails.
Liyayas have shorter than average lifespans, and this gives them special magicks. They are keenly aware of their shorter lifespans, and they are given a new magic every decade they live. The first magic they gain is at birth, and it is the magic to speak to the dead. The second magic comes at age 10, and it is the magic to stop a death they can see, four times. The third magic comes at age 20, and it is the magic to need no sleep. And the last comes at age 30, and it is the magic to instill mortality in the inmortal.
A liyaya at age 39 may be able to turn a god into a mortal being, but it is rare they would meet one. If a liyaya lives past age 40, they lose all their magic.
Liyayas live in small communities where they embrace every moment of their lives. They seek to live life to the fullest, and they do this by defining this as living without fear, without hatred, without worry. They do not often succeed at this, but they try desperately.

Sanye
Fey bound to an ancient law.
- Lifespan: 400 years
- Diet: Common fey fare
- Habitat: Mountains
- Socioeconomic Status: Privileged oppressed
Sanyes are 6’ tall figures with dark grey skin, black hair, pointy ears, and deep yellow eyes. Culturally, they usually have metallic wristbands on.
The first laws ever written down were said to have been written by an unaligned fey being known as the First Judge about 1,000 years before the Fall. The laws were designed to coordinate basic functions of a large permanent settlement, and it is said that seven powerful fey agreed to these laws and bound themselves to them. They became the sanye, fey defined by their connection to these laws.
Sanyes live by this ancient code, which empowers them. The more they live up to it, the more magic they gain. The code is relatively simple, a list of seven laws that are mostly about being fair in dealings, and they may bind other laws to it via their magic if they become part of other cultures. But they cannot give up the original seven.
The magicks they gain vary by individual, but they always derive from the laws. They can draw physical power from the laws, mental acuity or will power, or magical essence. They can bind their lives to the law, sense violations of it, and invoke its power. And many other powers, depending on how powerful they are.
Sanyes come from the same ancient settlement that their species first formed in, a small mountain community that sits at a crossroads in a mountain valley. They uphold the law, seek fairness, and wear special metallic wristbands that have the seven laws etched into them. They live simple lives and work together, led by a Judge. Those who leave this culture find other sets of laws to follow and often end up aligned to imperials, fey powers, or other countries.
