Anoteros

Mystics who live in the upper atmosphere.

• Lifespan: 1,000 years
• Diet: Energy and high altitude fare
• Habitat: Exosphere
• Socioeconomic Status: Oppressed

Anoteroses appear to be anthropomorphic beings with high foreheads and a variety of color skin hues (dark grey, black, white, violet, red, or indigo). They have fingers that are proportionately longer than one might expect from the size of their hands. They have hair on the fringes of their heads but not on top.

All anoteros are immune to radiation, can breathe in very light atmosphere, can walk on air, and have resistance to extreme heat and cold. They feel sluggish in the lower atmosphere but do adjust a little bit eventually.
In the exosphere or above (or in the thermosphere), they can communicate entirely with body language because there is little to no sound. With each other, they can always communicate this way.

Anoteroses absorb sunlight for sustenance, but they also eat some high altitude animals such as magical birds, fish, whales, and insects, as well as rare magical fungi or plants there.

Every anoteros can see ultraviolet light, create hydrogen domes (to protect others from radiation), and have their own personal aurae (a reflection of the geocorona) that repels industrial energies.

They live on tiny exospheric satellites that allow for floating villages in small communities led by elders. They focus their work on studying the exosphere, the lower atmosphere, and the nearby places in outer space. They are observers and scientists, though they also have a spiritual reverence for Shem, the moons, and the various objects in near orbit.

Those who come down to Shem go there for another perspective on the cosmos and near orbit, the atmosphere, and the world, often seeking out educational institutions. The Talunese treat them poorly, however, and view them as lesser because of their beliefs, often exploiting their understanding of sciences while treating them as underlings.
