Decoy Quacklin #decoyq
An inflatable aluminum foil balloon that inflates to a cut out of Quacklin running. Inflates via a CO2 cartridge, triggers when thrown. Weighted so the balloon sits upright.
A small Fedora that, when dipped a certain way, flashes with police lights. Quacklin uses this as a headlamp and to clear space for himself in a crowd.
Walker is a collection of 4 decomposable motorcycle/lawnmower motors connected to pnuematic legs. In her primary configuration, all motors are latched to a folding chair that was taken from a junkyard. She runs on gas and brake fluid. Flexible tubes and hodgepoge patches link the components together, and each leg is controlled by solenoid electrical switches with long wires that connect to rings Quacklin wears.
- Carrying capacity: 2 tons
- Top speed (unloaded): 25-30 mph
- Top speed (fully loaded): Walking, 3 mph.
- Size: 3' tall, 4'x4' wide
- Decomposable: Walker can be broken apart into 4 parts and reattached to anything through vice grips on the interior surface. When this happens, Quacklin folds away the central chair and rides whatever he's transporting.
- Pro: 15 (driving + self designed)
- Ath: 10 (still awkward, but more maneuverable than any car. She can handle rough surfaces, stairs, etc.)
- Str: attack 35
- Spring stilt leg: toughness 20
- Telescoping leg: toughness 13
- Crane+gun leg: toughness 23, unfinished.
- Crane leg: toughness 23
- Awa: 9 (She's a good girl!)
- Wil: 17 (She can stare down a hellhound)
- Rog: 5 (SHER-CLICK SHER-CLICK!)
Each radio fits on top of the person's head, and connects to a control earpiece by the ear. The earpiece fits behind the ear and plays through bone conduction, so the ear is left uncovered. If properly put on and with a hat, the radio is nigh invisible.
The radios play through repeaters, allowing anyone to talk to each other on the same band. An ear splitting signal gets sampled out during replay, which should help with eavesdroppers.
Each button is made from two sheets of plastic glued together in a circle, with one side being indented before gluing. The insides of both are covered with solder to make a connection when the user presses a button. Switches are made from the plastic "buttons" where only one side is able to be depressed at a time, thanks to a miniature fulcrum inside a plastic bubble made from toothpicks. A slider is implemented as parts of a conductive wire connected to a resistive material, so that sliding how far apart the wires are leads to more or less electrical resistance.
All these buttons are designed to lay beside the speaker connected to the person's jawbone. They can discretely activate the signals by reaching up behind their ears.
He builds in the following functions: Turn on/turn off. Speak/don't speak. Tune frequency. Tune volume. Normal frequency or police frequency.
The antenna for the devices is a wire that goes through the hair, behind the neck and onto the torso of the person. It needs to be taped.
Felicia the Aircar #aircar
[23:56:40] Quacklin: "We need to go! Plane lady, can you fly a car?" Quacklin attaches sparing shields to the hubs of the car.
[23:57:55] Quacklin: "There's no traffic in the sky! And these will make the wheels like fans!"
[00:14:18] Geminid: Okay, how is Q making this thing fly?
[00:15:15] Quacklin: when everyone is inside, Q starts combining the buoyancy of air with the frame of the car.
[00:15:53] Geminid: The car begins to float. How can it drive if the tires aren't hitting anything?
[00:16:24] Quacklin: slowly at first, so it just is barely neutrally bouyant. That what the shields on the wheels were for.
[00:16:35] Quacklin: pressing on the petals makes them into fans.
[00:16:44] Geminid: I don't know what neutrally bouyant means
[00:16:44] Alsa: pedal
[00:16:50] Gabe: Means it's just floating.
[00:16:51] Quacklin: pedal, sorry.
[00:16:54] Gabe: It doesn't go up or down.
[00:16:58] Gabe: just sits there.
[00:17:02] Geminid: Gotchya.
[00:17:24] Quacklin: Lacea might be able to make it dip with the fans and good turns,
[00:17:25] Geminid: So when the wheels turn, the car is pushed by the fans pushing air around.
[00:17:33] Quacklin: but it would take a good pilot.
[00:17:37] Quacklin: right.
[00:17:53] Geminid: A good pilot, eh?
[00:20:41] Quacklin: when the car is slightly floating, Quacklin disconnects cables underneath. "The low gear just makes the front wheels run, and the third gear will do the back wheels only!" (This should give her more control)
[00:36:56] Geminid: Lacea says, "That thing is a death trap. No one other than me is to pilot it, understood?"
[00:43:23] * Quacklin hides behind the car for a few seconds, then jumps in and finishes off his radar.
[00:44:39] Quacklin: and he needs a way to make it turn and he needs a display, I figure he can make one from metal shavings and a rotating electromagnet to make the shavings jump.
[00:44:59] Quacklin: It was on the roof of the car.
[00:46:32] Geminid: How does it work? Does it have a display? How does it alert him things are approaching?
[00:47:58] Quacklin: as for the radar, Q comes down and puts a plate on the floor with a machine over it. The plate looks fuzzy, and parts of it stick up looking like a city as a metal bar rotates over the plate.
[00:48:57] Quacklin: "It's a map of the nearest 3 blocks! We can see if stuff is coming!"
Righteous Wanda the Mech #mecha
- Pro
- Ath
- car: dodge 5, sprint ?? (30mph)
- skitter: dodge 10, sprint 16
- Str
- 35 toughness (fighting against bats)
- Awa
- Wil
- Intimidate 17 (against vesturians)
- Rog 10 (only half visible)
Edges
- Two seater- the mech has two modes:
- Car mode: it drives like a car, but one arm can aim weapons. Poor manuverability like a car.
- Skitter mode: it moves like Walker, weaving and turning on a dime. One person drives, another shoots.
- Drill head (strong enough to drill through rock)
- See through, reflects and refracts light like crystal
- Holy flame thrower
- untippable
- doesn't run out of gas.
2009-10-25:
[03:35:17] Geminid: So what's he make for the airship raid?
[03:36:17] Quacklin: ok, so the device will have Walker at the base along with what was left over of the car. With the legs up, it can drive for greater speed.
[03:36:48] Quacklin: With them down, it can skitter like a spider, dodge, etc.
[03:37:45] Quacklin: The top is rounded so it can't get tipped over. He puts a gyroscope trap in the center, adjusting it to keep him upright in a basket and cushioned even if the tank gets hit.
[03:38:33] Geminid: Okay.
[03:38:42] Quacklin: the windshield is similarly reinforced to be bullet proof. He riggs up a mess of wires, telling Sarah what goes where, so he can drive by running in the gyroscope trap inside.
[03:39:33] Geminid: Nice
[03:40:19] Quacklin: I think there is a flame thrower from a trap on one arm, and something else on the other.
[03:40:35] Quacklin: He also brings lots of gas.
[03:40:42] Geminid: I would imagine he needs to.
[03:41:20] Quacklin: when in battle mode it eats lots of gas.
[03:41:37] Quacklin: I think he wants a non-lethal trap on the other arm,
[03:42:09] Quacklin: I'm thinking bolas ala batman?
[03:42:14] Geminid: I approve.
[03:43:06] Quacklin: oh, and the multiplier gloves go on the two arm traps on the outside. So the mech has articulated hands that can mold metal.
[03:43:46] Quacklin: this is a ridiculous machine. This is a mech. He could fuck up a tank if he could get close.
[03:44:20] Quacklin: it takes hours to build but not nearly as long as it should. He can build almost as fast as he could make a prop.
[03:44:42] Geminid: By about 2 a.m., he has a mecha?
[03:45:58] Quacklin: it looks like a ball with curved arms and spider legs. I think it has a the car's rose in a bow on it's head, so it looks feminine. It looks squat and friendly, were it not for the traps and shielding of metal.
[03:46:47] Geminid: Awesome
[03:46:49] Geminid: How fast does it move?
[03:47:16] Quacklin: using wheels, top speed of 30mph. But it really can only move in straight lines.
[03:47:27] Quacklin: In hand-to-hand, it has Quacklin's dodge.
[03:47:36] Geminid: Noted.
[03:48:00] Quacklin: since it's mimicking his movements.
[03:48:03] Geminid: Right
[03:48:34] * Quacklin stands back and looks at it. He gets paint and paints the rose red, then paints some lips on it.
[03:48:55] Geminid: You're insane.
[03:48:56] Geminid: I love it.
[04:13:52] * Quacklin climbs on top of the mech and starts reforming Wanda's head into a cone of metal, then he starts fashioning it as a drill bit.
[02:35:08] * Quacklin empties the crystal out of his back pouch, and uses the gloves to combine their refractoriness and visibility with the mech's externals.
[02:35:31] Geminid: Making the mecha very visible?
[02:36:01] Quacklin: the goal is to refract and help extend Alice's aura like a jewel. And if Gift-created crystal makes her flash stronger, so be it.
[02:36:24] Quacklin: making the mech glimmer with her holy light.
[02:36:40] Geminid: The aura extends, burning the hellhounds and zombies signficantly, ending them.
[02:52:20] * Quacklin crawls off the controls and moves to touch the pilot light of the flamethrower. He combines the holy light suffusing the machine with the light of the flame.
[02:52:45] Geminid: You now have a holy flame thrower.
[03:56:42] * Quacklin gets out and opens up the mech's and Walker's gas tanks. He combines the volume of the gas with the emptiness in the gas tank, especially it's inexhaustibleness and ability to take the shape of it's container. The idea is that he shouldn't need to get more gas.
[04:46:02] Geminid: So you make the metal superconductive.
[04:49:15] Geminid: And then?
[04:49:52] Alsa: How much superconducting wire did you just make, btw?
[04:50:03] Quacklin: a chunk of metal.
[04:50:32] Geminid: Right, what do you do now?
[04:51:39] Quacklin: He brings it back and refashions it for Walker's legs, then connects up a transformer to create the necessary magnetic fields to levitate the mech over the cars in the street.
[04:52:10] Geminid: I barely even understand what he's doing. He's making the mecha float?
[04:52:20] Quacklin: just over metal
I imagine these as gloves that fit over the regular gloves, powered by a compressor. They can only move things short short distances, but they can do it with a lot of power. In particular, the base of the gloves is missing, so the real Gifted Gloves can be touching the metal as it's being folded.
2009-10-25:
[03:31:18] Quacklin: Ok, I think the first thing he builds are overgloves on top of the gloves
[03:31:24] Geminid: For what?
[03:31:46] Quacklin: to multiply his strength, allow him to mold metal like playdoh.
[03:31:54] Geminid: Nice.
[03:32:05] Geminid: Umm, right, we'll worry about numbers later.
[01:13:06] * Quacklin starts fiddling with electronics in a corner. He puts on giant gloves over his regular gloves and starts up a compressor.
[01:13:42] Quacklin: With said gloves, he picks up metal and starts folding it like clay. He takes a sheet and folds it into another parabolic dish.
[01:18:34] * Quacklin then builds a receiver for an RC car, and a sending control joystick, connected to power and the dish. He turns on the electronics and tries to combine the receiver to the radio waves emitted by the dish.
[01:20:00] Geminid: So he's combining the receiver to the waves in order to do what?
[01:20:33] Quacklin: in order to attach the receiver to whatever takes the bulk of the radio waves.
[01:20:59] Geminid: Literally attach it to it?
[01:21:23] Quacklin: metaphorically, put the receiver in the radio waves.
[01:21:36] Quacklin: he got the idea from Alice's fiddling.
[01:21:44] Geminid: What is the intended effect of that?
[01:22:02] Quacklin: To aim it at the scissorman and pause him/drive him around.
[03:46:29] Geminid: You ensnare a bat in the midst of its spell, ruining the ceremony.
[03:46:38] Geminid: Roll the beam, though, vs. its will
[03:46:39] Quacklin: and then he joysticks it into the roof along the beam.
[03:46:51] Geminid: r diff 17
[03:46:56] Quacklin: no idea what it's will should be either, it doesn't have a will per-se?
[03:47:02] Quacklin: perhaps signal strength?
[03:47:10] Geminid: The beam doesn't have a will, the bat does.
[03:47:15] Geminid: The beam has a power rating of some sort, though.
[03:47:33] Geminid: Pick a reasonable number.
[03:47:43] Quacklin: 16-19?
[03:47:49] Geminid: 17, even with the bat, then
[03:47:52] Quacklin: I don't think it works through 2 walls.
[03:47:55] Quacklin: r 17
Bumfuzzle Flying Maul #airhammer
[2009-10-25 00:30:30] <Geminid> It's +9/+9
[2009-10-25 00:31:12] <Quacklin> wow
[2009-10-25 00:31:35] <Geminid> It's a Bumfuzzle Flying Maul.
[2009-10-25 00:31:48] <Quacklin> as accurate as a regular hammer? I'll put it on his page.
[2009-10-25 00:31:56] <Geminid> The greatest gnomish melee/missile weapon that isn't mechanical. Yes.
