Description At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, dragons grow to be huge, wide, serpents with large legs and five rows of pale plates along their backs. They have shiny black scales and four tails, one ending in a thagomizer, one ending in a mace-like ball of bone, one ending in a stinger, and one ending in black flames. Their faces are like twisted equine countenances, and their tongues are made of voidflesh.
Procreation Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching.
Esoterica Obsidian dragons accumulate rending, arnum, void, entropy, frustration resonance, despair resonance, corrupted qi, corrupted sound, corrupted fortune, corrupted aether all bound by ethereal energy. Other powers are impossible, especially holy, except some divine energies.
Special Powers

Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they accumulate . The usual progression of powers is as follows:

  • Level 1: Obsidian acid breath weapon
  • Level 2: Immunity to pain
  • Level 3: Immunity to confusion
  • Level 4: Immunity to electricity
  • Level 5: Scale grants bearer filth touch
  • Level 6: Razor wall
  • Level 7: Shatter mountains, once per year
  • Level 8: Empathy, 100' radius
  • Level 9: Sense health
  • Level 10: Malnourish instantly
  • Level 11: Summon abominations (Obsidian)
  • Level 12: Mass murder at will

All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects.

Other common powers include lawbreak, shatter soul, nullify soul, desecrate land, cause weakness, corrupt genetic bond, break sound barrier, instill chronic anguish, and defile soul.

Alternate Forms Obsidian dragons sometimes take the form of a human-type morag.
Weaknesses Holy powers can harm them in great quantities.

Culture Obsidian dragons lay their eggs in the wastes of Abaddon, where one parents helps raise the young. They live in small clans that are led by the most powerful among them, and they enslave the locals around them to build their hoards. When they grow old, they dive into the depths of Abaddon to die.
