Na'Amah was born in the Omri tribe to Ezekiah, a ship-tender, and Beulah, a River-farer. Her mother's role as a 'farer allowed her great privilege amongst the tribe, and she had the finest Teachers and tutors growing up. She was also allowed to stretch the limits of cultural boundaries, which allowed her to play various rough games with the boys when she was younger. She loved such games, and amongst the Riverkin, she was considered something of a tomboy. When she chose soldiering over scholarship, though, even her parents were shocked. They tried very hard to convince her otherwise, but she took up sword and shield in the name of tribe and faith.
She proved to be an adept warrior, and she earned many honors defending the tribe. In her 30th year, an Epistle was written on her behalf by the Judges asking that she be considered for their order. The Hamwech sent the letter to Haran, and after much deliberation, he allowed it. The controversial decision created a storm of debate in the Hamwech and the the Omri tribe, a debate that still rages three years later. Meanwhile, Na'Amah has proven to be a skilled and wise Judge.
The Judges are the interpretive and enforcement branch of the laws and customs of the Riverkin. Traditionally, few women are allowed in because of the Riverkin belief that the Judges reflect the Arbiter, whom is considered by many to be male. Others argue that as a three-faced being, he is male, female, and neuter, and thus all should be Judges. The Judges themselves have accepted many more men than women over the Ages, but there have always been women in their ranks.
