Marko looks like a steinvolk human, but he is actually a mix of steinvolk, specularo, supravosan, caligian, bocador, and mangeur. Unbeknownst to the public, he is a froemmler designed in infernal rites to be the "perfect" prince. The birth of his brother at the same time is part of a test to see if Marko is truly as perfect as he seems, compared to a natural born steinvolk. As a child, he was cast out by his father who felt he did not resemble him enough, but he was saved by his mother and kept in secret.
