Description Lephurtae, also called clickers, are varying in size and shape, but always have the skull of a horse, crocodillian, or dragon; massive bone-bladed arms; and bone wings. They stink of the grave.
Procreation New lephurtae spawn from the bones of those whose souls they steal sometimes.
Esoterica Lephurtae are beings of msawhat and Raesian energy. They do not use any other power.
Special Powers All lephurtae have bone-blades, like massive scythes, for arms. These are incredibly sharp. They can breathe a blast of greyflame, which will corrupt the flesh of those they hit. And their gaze will rip the soul out of anyone they have slashed with their arms. Their stench is nauseating.
Service If a lephurtae has a voice (they don't always), they can speak the words I'hugg B'hoaug, which will invoke the power of the Grey King and bring about his will.
Necromancy

Necromancers have long sought to be able to create lephurtae, but the art is extremely difficult. Gathering the appropriate bones (skull of a horse, crocodillian, or dragon; bladed bones for the arms; skeletal wings) can be challenging, but the power to make them turn into a lephurtae requires either the necromancer's own soul (which they are loathe to give up for such as a lephurta) or 12 souls of either elves or akhs, which must be gathered by murdering them with the bone blades and using any necromantic art to capture the soul. The bones must be arranged into the appropriate shape, bound together by freshly gathered tendons and muscles, and the souls infused into the skeleton. To infuse the souls, the necromancer must murder one final victim as the heart of the lephurta, usually a smaller victim in order to fit it inside the rib cage.

It is much easier to summon lephurtae. A circle of necromantic energies, three souls from freshly murdered victims, and the bones of a freshly stolen corpse, one stolen before any religious rite has been practiced over it. But not one murdered by the necromancer. It must have died by natural causes, accident, or illness not inflicted intentionally. Once summoned, the lephurta can be controlled if the necromancer's will is greater than the lephurta's, and if the necromancer has a mortal heart burning in a censer made of griseomy. If the necromancer prefers to capture the lephurta, they must surround the summoning circle with a spiral of blood from their own veins.

Once captured, they can draw power from the lephurta, if they can best its will, by touching the spirals of blood.

Weaknesses Poarta, and to a lesser extent ashar, will harm them. Use of symbols sanctified to Death Herself will repel them, and any expression of argentflame will make them wary. They can be sent via active use of either poarta or ashar, in sufficient quantity, but a ritual of burying parts of a victim of a lephurta will give sufficient poarta to banish them. To seal a lephurta away, a seal of wax inscribed with symbols of Death Herself will work, but living ashar in a black jar made of elven glass will also do the same.
Culture In the ghost barrens of southeastern Ansulym, the lephurtae roam. They dwell in small packs that hunt the living, each pack led by the most powerful and eldest among them. All packs are offshoots of the original pack, led by Nag'zhith, their Manifest. Each pack is made up of 40-60 lephurtae, and of them, 10-15 will be dominant. Dominants control the rest of the pack and get to eat first. New lephurtae simply assume themselves into the pack that is nearest them. Though they are not unintelligent, they rarely see the need to communicate.
Religion All lephurtae view Aam'nal as their patron and the Grey Queen as their matron. They will silently dedicate certain kills to them.
Gender Gender is irrelevant to them.
Military They have no military.
Other Nations There are no other lephurta nations.
Outside View They are usually assumed to be common undead, but they're well known as monsters to be avoided in the regions near the ghost barrens. The lephurtae view other undead as overly complicated.
