Gaire is one of the rare vilas that defected from Thorn, a woman who knew the villainy she served and rejected it. She was a warrior who needed to face the King of Thorns, and the Champion of Music gave her that opportunity. She fought valiantly against the Thorns for Ages, and when he finally fell, she turned her resources to other hunters of women. She is second only to Minne in skill amongst the Euphonic Knights.
