Description Dvergars stand about 3' to 4' tall. They have large eyes with large pupils; they are known to sleep with their eyes open. Their skin ranges from pale to greyish, and their hair is usually brown, blond, or red. They have large ears.
Procreation Dvergars reproduce with one another sexually.
Esoterica Dvergars are beings of unfugl; they use trickery and cunning. They are known also to wield poioumenon, kazaddarean, true shadow, arcane shadow, mijjit, emotional resonance, bailaohu jinghua, sonic aether, fortune, serendipity, misfortune, and fate.
Special Powers Dvergars are known for their ability to vanish into thin air. They have excellent hearing and vision in the dark, though the latter suffers in sunlight.
Charms Every dvergar has up to six charms, each of which allows them to grant a boon or inflict a curse on someone else. These are always laced with some kind of irony or humor. No curse can kill and no boon can heal, as they say, but both cause trouble for their target. Every dvergar's charms are different, based on the customs of their family and their personal sense of humor.
Weaknesses
Culture

Dvergars exist in many regions under Lyrilla and Jesenya, but their original homeland is Laegth, a city in the Lithosphere, the first layer of the Subterranean Realm. Laegthrs consider their home city to be a merry one where no one has troubles - except those they bring on themselves by being too serious or gullible. They are ruled by a hilmir, who is a cross between a king and a clan chief; the position is inherited but passes between eldest males in an extended family; and a svarri, the oldest woman in the same extended family. The family of the rulers changes depending on a complex series of whims, political tides, and alliances amongst the most powerful families in Laegth.

Dvergar children are raised by their parents. They are not named until the first time they laugh, at which time they are given a name based on what happened to make them laugh (or their parents' best guess). A disproportionate number of dvergars in Laegth are named Fretr for this reason. At age six, they are given their first charm. From there on out, they earn a new charm every time they delight their parents with the use of their previous one. Standards are very high, however, as to what will best delight their parents. By the time they are adults, they usually have all six charms.

Though it is considered absurd to take life too seriously in Laegth, dvergars there do have jobs and make sure society basically functions. Dvergars are skilled artisans and laborers; workdays are filled with song and jokes to keep spirits up. They keep a small constabulary that keeps things from getting out of hand, but their court system is very lenient. Only the most serious crimes are ever punished; they have no prisons, instead sentencing people to work dreary jobs.

Music and art are highly valued in their society; every month sees a gathering where dvergars trade their arts and crafts and sing together. Every year, they have three major holidays: an early spring holiday similar to April Fool's; New Year's Day about a month before that; and a holiday similar to Samhain. Each revolves around elaborate pranks and mischief.

Faerie Courts Most dvergars are allied to the Seelie Court; their role in it is one of trouble-makers and crafters to favor the Queen.
Religion Dvergars believe the universe and all life is one big joke created by Bölvasmiðr, a genderfluid trickster who shows up to teach lessons to those who take things too seriously or aren't cunning enough. There is no organized religion, but rather a collection of stories about Bölvasmiðr and a lot of superstitions.
Gender Dvergars have a rudimentary patriarchy wherein men are favored a little more than women, but no one takes it too seriously. Genderfluidity is very common, but usually seen as a source of comedy and trickery. If one's gender gets in the way of a joke or a prank, it simply must be set aside until the joke or prank is delivered.
Military The military of Laegth is a disorganized collection of guerrilla warfare units that specialize in sabotage and terrorism. They are greatly feared.
Language Their language is based on Old Norse.
Trade The dvergars of Laegth trade their arts, crafts, and fine works amongst the faerie nations of Lyrilla and the countries of Jesenya mostly. Their work is highly valued, though often times there's something unexpected about it.
Other Nations For other dvergar nations, see dvergars.
Outside View Dvergars are known for being troublesome and infuriating at times, but excellent artisans and shrewd hagglers. Though their culture does favor both of those things, this is often amplified into cruel stereotypes. They are viewed as nuissances by many others, though they do not often hold grudges about it.
