| Description | At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, dragons grow to be sleek, hound-like reptiles about the size of an elephant. Their scales are dun-hued, but can shift colors if they are bonded to another. |
| Procreation | Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching. |
| Esoterica | Dun dragons accumulate massive amounts of draconic power and euergasia and wield their arts. Other common arts include those of hegnh, ancestral memory, shavev mashkalran, lhair, waarheid, banaru, curacion, ujjval aatma, yahas, Foundation, heavenly virtue, liberation power, glory, radiance, Damaskian powers, mashoaab, all forms of aether, gebvel, spirits, poioumenon, mijjit, mansam, emotional resonance, kor, symbolism, karma, and mana. |
| Special Powers | Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they become fully grown. The usual progression of powers is as follows:
All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects. Other common powers include soul bonding, blood bonding, Name bonding, instill work skill, instill work ethic, inspire loyalty, and healing. |
| Breath Weapon | All dragons can render their main energy into a flame and breathe it as a weapon. For dun dragons, this creates a flame that burns the treacherous especially, called dunflame. This fire will fortify those who are part of the great working class and burn those who oppose it. |
| Weaknesses | Dun dragons are susceptible to gossamer light. |

| National Culture | For thousands of years, dun dragons were enslaved by slate dragons in their deep caverns, living not as dun dragons, but as basic wyrms, enslaved. Only when uniting did they find an identity, bonding and unlocking euergasia, coming into their own. Their revolution allowed them to escape their oppressors and build their own society, which they created to be as equitable and fair and free as possible. Dun dragons live in large communities in massive cavern warrens deep underground. Every community has a parliament of elected dragons who make the laws and decisions for the community. Each representative in the parliament is elected from their union, which represents their occupations. Every occupation is guided by the union, represented by the union, and protected by the union. Most work on projects for the community, art works, public works, structural work, teaching, medicine, and so on, but some work on projects for their own purposes. Every community has their own constables, who protect the community. Children are raised by their parents and extended families. They are sent to community schools early on, but their families guide their education. By the time they are adults, they are encouraged to choose an occupation and union, but they are free to change at any time. Gender is recognized and diverse, but marriage does not exist. Couples form long-term relationships only around the raising of children. The most important things in dun dragon communities are the unions, but every community has their own special traditions as well. These traditions are usually art-based or musical, festivals or special foods. They gather with other communities every ten years for special celebrations where they share their unique traditions. Every 100 years, they gather to celebrate the Revolution, and during this celebration, they all re-tell the story of the Revolution, so that none ever forget their former enslavement. During this celebration, all crimes are forgiven, all debts released, and all personal issues set aside. Forgiveness is a special idea in their communities. Because of the grievances they hold against the slate dragons, they believe forgiveness must be earned, except under special circumstances. Because of this, crimes and debts are taken very seriously, and contracts are not uncommon between even close families to address any concerns, complicated issues, or agreements. Those who commit crimes must work them off. Debts must be paid back, but never is interest charged. The most forbidden thing among dun dragons is enslavement. Though crimes and debts must be paid for, there is always a choice to be made. Criminals and debtors are always given the chance to simply leave the community if they prefer not to repay. If someone is found guilty of enslaving another, they are executed. |
| Religion | In their enslavement, dun dragons learned their own worth and power, united and rose up. In doing so, they honored the the Great Worker. He granted them insights and the ability to wield euergasia. For this, they continue to honor him, and every dun dragon community has special members of every union who serve him directly through the work. These priests always do the work of the union as well, which comes first, but they dedicate it to him. |
