Description At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, bismuth dragons grow to be shimmering, discordant-scaled beasts with craggy rocky bodies shaped like a cross between a crocodile and a bull, including long horns, crocodilian tail, and hooves.
Procreation Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching.
Esoterica Bismuth dragons accumulate msawhat-corrupted sound or arnic noise in great quantities. They also often accumulate pure msawhat, envy resonance, shadow, arnum, and rending. Mana, greenlight aether, currents aether, pattern aether, and wind aether are not uncommon. Poioumenon, kor, and recursion are also not unheard of. Divine energies are frequent. Other energies vary. Holy powers are impossible.
Special Powers

Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they accumulate . The usual progression of powers is as follows:

  • Level 1: Sonic blast breath weapon
  • Level 2: Immunity to deafness
  • Level 3: Immunity to pain
  • Level 4: Immunity to bonding
  • Level 5: Scale grants bearer a loud voice
  • Level 6: Zone of ear-splitting noise
  • Level 7: Break voice, once per year
  • Level 8: Poisoned horns
  • Level 9: Super-hearing
  • Level 10: Cause major disconnection
  • Level 11: Summon disharmonians
  • Level 12: Move faster than sound

All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects.

Other common powers include cacophonous wailing, stone-shattering noise, minor disconnection, and instill deafness.

Alternate Forms Bismuth dragons sometimes take the form of a shrike.
Weaknesses Yahas and euphonic sound can harm them.
Subspecies Wailing dragons are bismuth dragons transformed into fishtailed bull dragons by consuming more arnic noise than usual. They have a keening wail for a breath weapon, disrupt connections with a 100' aura, and can move through solid matter.
Culture Bismuth dragons lay their eggs in deep forest glens, where they leave them to survive on their own. One in ten survive. They mate rarely and only with dragons they view as inherently hideous and dangerous. As young, they fight to survive in deep Ansulymic forests and gather resources by stealing from their elders. When they reach maturity, they are sometimes taken under the wing of more powerful bismuth dragons, who exploit them and abuse them, but teach them. Eventually, they either abandon this master or kill them. They are solitary beings that impose servitude on those they view as lesser races, creating small communities around their chosen glens. As they age, they become more and more solitary until they fade into haunting wails in the night.
