The rakshasas of Shem have a reputation for being monsters, but some, like Baghaas, are heroic and virtuous beings. Baghaas is, in fact, the most famous of the "good" rakshasas, a hero of legend who protected a valley from ten thousand snakes. His heroism brought him to the attention of Kateri Riverwalker, who went to the courts of southern Dabusen to seek him out. She courted him briefly, but the two both realized they were better as allies and friends than lovers. She brought him into the Fox Wars, and he has proven a staunch and powerful ally from the side of the Flame Divine.
