Zoani is a scavenger, a raccoon-woman, from the central forests of Maraddon. She grew up in relative poverty, geting by as a hunter-gatherer on the outskirts of the towns & villages. An orphan, she has had to live on her own for some 20 years. During the Civil War, she lead Silver Torches through secret paths only she knew of to the encampments of the Atanaxans & the rebels. Gaining their respect, she was offered a reward at the end of the war.

She chose to join them & began training. She has since shown that her lack of proper diet for the past 20 years has weakened her body, & thus, she has spent years in training to restore herself. When Klaus asked for experienced cadet volunteers, she reluctantly agreed, noting her own physical weakness, but he seemed not to mind.

Zoani has many strange rituals that she does each day to "appease those that watch," which makes her a strange companion.
