| Description | Ysians have bluish skin, silver eyes, retractable webbing on their feet and hands, gill slits on their necks, and hair of many different colors. |
| Procreation | Ysians reproduce sexually like humans do. They can reproduce with other ysian nations, humans, and other metahumans, and the offspring follow the mother. With non-human beings, it is only possible with supernatural intervention. |
| Esoterica | Ysians are beings of conflueverant, emotional resonance, and ashar. Users of the arts of all these energies are common among them, as well as nzwara murazvo, prasinofos, dumaqu, viridian aether, poioumenon, mana, Damaskian powers, radiance, euphony, tenycoan, euskepsia, yahas, flux, fate, fortune, misfortune, arcane shadow, ethereal energy, symbolism, mijjit, complexity, shebv heya, gebvel, ibbissu, thorn energy, peccatum, gossamer light, true shadow, cacophony, eldritch energy, bedrog, drenante, uafas, kor, and spirit energy. |
| Special Powers | Ysians are constantly improving, both individually and as a group. Their powers increase as time goes on, expanding or altering by the Currents around them. All ysians have the power to glamour while underwater. New powers appear variably. |
| Senses | Ysians have the power to listen to the Currents and learn about the flow of water, information, esoteric energies, commerce, and other intangibles. They can see in low-light and have strong senses of smell. |
| Affinity | Ysians have an affinity, or connection, to bass, mackerel, herring, cod, seahorses, dolphins, whales, sharks, swordfish, trout, cetus, hippocampus, and many other oceanic creatures. They can sense them, speak to them, and influence them. |
| Weaknesses | Brown aether will hurt them. They cannot breathe outside of saltwater without supernatural support. |
| National Culture | Ysians constantly strive to improve upon their society. They dwell in a series of vast undersea cities once used by the Kesanese, where they rearrange their society constantly as they gain new insights. At the heart of their society is a matriarchal council that uses the Currents to understand the world around them. Though constants within their society are few, there are observable trends. Hairstyles reflect the role one plays in society (warriors have shaved heads, councillors long flowing hair, workers practical cuts, etc.). Mystics are revered for their skills, and metapoliticians are the highest among them. Children are raised communally, gender is fluid, and class distinctions vary greatly to the point of being unpredictable. Trading, hunting, and courtship are the heart of society along with metapolitics. Singing is the most favored art form. Before they were ysians they were Kesanese elves, and holdovers from those days still remain. The former system of governance is long-gone, but they still honor their former queens and heroes. These ancient ysians are advisers to the current ruling council at any given time, though most tend toward their chosen craft. |
| Outside View | Most on land view ysians as indistinguishable from merfolk, but the general view is that they are safer to interact with than most. Those who know more about them seek them out sometimes for information. Sailors often consult them when sailing over in order to get their bearings, offering treats in exchange for guidance. |
