A giant serpent that lived in the area of ancient Tenzanai, it has eight heads, eight tails, & two red eyes on each head. It is the size of eight valleys & eight hills, in which it rests sedentary for centuries, allowing trees, grass, & other vegetation to grow over it. When the serpent rises, the vegetation remains, however.
Its meal of choice is female virgins of intelligent races. Each head is independently hungry, but every time a head eats a maiden, it is sated & empowered to the point that it has to molt. If seven of the eight heads have molted, the serpent is easily killable if it can be struck. Luckily, it is also highly susceptible to alcohol.
The eight-forks were almost hunted to extinction in the early years of Second Shem. The classic way to defeat them developed as such: feed seven maidens to the the beast, then lure it to an eighth in a specially constructed trap. Leave copious amounts of alcohol in the trap & let the serpent get drunk to the point that it passes out. Decapitate all eight forks.
There is at least one eight-fork known to be left on the continent of Ranu, & it is said to have the Sword of Dreams stuck in it, so it will sleep forever.
