When Vesturia began to conquer Ranu, the people who resisted slowly began to trickle south. As strangers began to reach the southern-most reaches of the continent, the peoples of the south began to resist the refugee-flow. Slowly but surely, the tribes of Kali began to unify to preserve their hold on their homes. From this confusion rose a leader, Sacnite, the Queen of the Rain Forests. She lead the tribes in a grand sweep northward, crushing the Vesturian occupation and dominating the locals, stopping only once it got "too cold." All of southern Ranu now belonged to the Kalian tribes.
