Touching a valefari will make one go blind. They suck the light out of a room by being in it. They are immune to physical attacks, having no physical body. Their eyes, when they need to see, burn a bright blue, & if they are slain, they explode into a wave of bright blue light that damns anyone that touches it.

They are master ventriloquists & illusion makers of shadowy nature. They can hear the voices of other shadow beings if they are submerged in darkness themselves, & they can rend the soul from a person who comes into their blanket of darkness, making their victims' flesh dissolve.

Valefari exist in dark places, hoping to capture living things. They are the weaker cousins to the shadow-kin, but they are capable of taking true shapes & interacting, albeit cloaked, in the human world. They blend often with thieves, and few know what danger they are in until it is too late.
