Late in the Age of Peace, the Caucus of Holy Champions decided that the last holy position must be filled before the Age ended and the window of their control passed, but no agreement on whom to support or what sphere it should be arose. Light and Order argued for Justice. Love and Hope argued for Redemption. Family, Life, Home, and Healing argued for another domestic sphere, like Children or Comfort. Harvest and Peace thought something different would be good. Creation, Music, and Vision sought another art-based sphere. Sun wanted Honor to be the new Champion, and Truth was neutral on the matter.
During this time, the Lost Gods began their long campaign to become part of the world. Having Champions already representing their spheres would be a boon to any incoming deities, and the Mother of Wisdom knew this. She sent emissaries with cogent arguments, then, to the Caucus, to argue for a Champion of Wisdom.
Amongst those listening to the arguments was a vision faithful muse named Urania, a sorceress of great power and experience in the courts. She heard the arguments for the Champion of Wisdom, and she knew in her heart that she would be just that. She left before any decision was made, slipping away to her manor and preparing for the journey. As she traveled, she heard tell that the idea had been rejected by a vote of 9 to 6, meaning a high majority was opposed--what she did then became somewhat dangerous. The good Champions would not hurt her, exactly, but they would try to stop her.
She found herself in a race. Every turn could reveal euphonic knights, homeguards, peacekeepers, silver scholars, planters, golden shields, or others that might be problematic. She soon heard the decision that had been reached was a Champion of Justice, after much argument and politicking. She knew that her rival would be the Champion of Order's right hand man, a strict and powerful warrior named Thaldren Rhuahar, a justicar greater dwarf who was known to be unstoppable. Delaying him would be out of the question and fighting him impossible. Guile and magic were her best chance.
She used her powers to misled the justicar, and almost reached the Mountain without facing him, but just before she did, his servants captured her and bound her, keeping her from taking the Mountain. The justicar, however, never came down, not after a week, and the servants quit the field before the Mountain, letting her go. She then went up herself, facing the 13 Trials with all her powers and experience, and came down the Champion of Wisdom, much to the chagrin of the other Champions.
