Harvester

Organ thieves.

Anatomist

The Red Grith employs harvesters who wield body magic to get results. They use magic distinctively from organs and viscera, a form of body magic

Anatomists know how to extract someone's organs without killing them instantly. Their methods allow a person who has lost an organ - even a heart - live for up to six hours. So long as the host is alive, the organ is alive. Like hottupalis (Red Grith torturers), they are not nice people. They prey on people to take their organs to sell on the black market. They only do so if they have a client, however, because of the brief period the organ remains alive.

Like other body magic users, they use special diet and exercise in order to access their magic. Their special diet is regular consumption of magical grains, spices, and milk mixed into a cereal called nimusti. This may vary by species, however. The Red Grith provides this to their anatomists, who eat it along with a heavy diet of organ meat. The special exercises vary by body and intention, but most seek to be nimble and dexterous. Normal exercises may get them such a body, but the special exercises, which involve excessive amounts of hand exercises and stretches, allow them to eventually control their body magically. Part of the exercises are meditations that allow them to know their body inside and out. If they can achieve this and keep to their diet, after months of work, they begin to gain full control. They gain a point of body magic skill per six months they keep to their routine and diet for the first eight points (0-8), then it extends to one point per year for the next three (9-11), then one point per three years for the next three (12-14), then one point per five years for the next three (15-17), then one point per seven years for the next three (18-20), then one point per ten years for the next three (21-23), then one point per twelve years for the next three (24-26). It continues to extend in length after that.

There are different ways to wield body magic once it is possessed:
  • Via physical strike (slap, punch, kick, tackle) with skin-to-skin contact to affect another person negatively.
  • Via sheer will power to affect one's own internal processes.
  • Via self-harm if they intend to alter their own form.
In order to practice their grim trade, anatomistrs also feed their victims a mixture of magical grain alcohol, spices, and raw meat, called malucarne. This mixture is ground up and forcefed to the victims. Then they use their body magic skills to alter their bodies temporarily, reaching into their bodies to remove the organs directly. They usually knock the person out first, then leave them somewhere remote so they don't seek help.

Hostahaut

The hostahauts of the Green Grith are collectors of organs, which they sell on the black market to raise funds for the ecoterrorist organization. They are wielders of elemental blood magic, which they harvest from their prey.

They tap into the powers of the hunt, of nature's hunters, of wolves, raptors, and other predatory animals native to Endruin. They attune to the hunt by engaging in ritual hunts wherein they use no weapons but those they were born with, hunt by the light of the moons, and feast upon their prey's blood shortly after killing it, with no preparation. They perform these rituals once a month for seven months to fully attune to the power of the hunt, usually going on short trips outside of the city to do so, being blessed in blood and nature.

After their seventh hunt, they have a dream of a prey animal, one native to the homeland of their ancestors. If they are from Endruin, the animal will usually be a hare or rabbit. This animal will guide them, and from this, they gain the following abilities:
  • Preyfinding sniff: they can smell people with fresh, healthy bodies.
  • Preserving blood: if they take the blood of their prey and wrap a recently acquired part or organ in it, it will keep the part or organ alive for a while.
  • Swift escape: if they sense danger, they can flee without thought, gaining bonuses.
  • Anatomical taste: if they taste the blood of someone, they know everything about their anatomy and are able to better harvest their organs.
  • Terrifying approach: they can intimidate their victims by appearing suddenly.
Their prey is always the victims of their organ harvesting. They are slightly feral.

Ungaw

There are many urban legends of people waking up without kidneys or other removable organs, being lured into it in specific situations usually involving a few too many drinks, maybe while out on travel. These stories fuel the magic of ungaws, who are wielders of superstition, urban legend, and campfire tales. They are the harvesters for the Violet Grith.

An ungaw gains their magic by learning and believing these stories, finding insights into the lore, and living the stories as closely as possible in order to tap into the narrative power of them. Sometimes they make a deal with powerful fey to gain access to it; sometimes they accidentally tap into it; and sometimes they learn it intentionally. Regardless of how they come to it, once they tap into it, they must hew to the story as well as they can, be aware of its flow, and adapt to it as needed. As they do this, they begin to sink into the quagmire of the horrific myths and gain certain abilities:
  • Identifying glance: they can identify likely victims, people who won't be missed or people who are traveling through, with a magical glance.
  • Sleepy sip: if they can touch the drink of their victim, they can make it a potent sleeping draught.
  • Quiet carry: once their victim is unconscious, they can gain STH bonuses if they carry them themselves.
  • Ice bath: they can turn any body of water into an ice bath if it is large enough to place the body into.
  • Narrative scalpel: once they have the victim, they can draw a super sharp scalpel out of thin air, drawing it from the narrative of the myth.
If the player can cite a specific urban legend about organ theft, they can draw magic from it.
