The legendary pirate Baol Vane was a sky reever in the Epoch of the Topaz Pillar who was known for his ruthlessness and dedication to darkness and power and ambition. Because of his connection to the shattering of Time itself, his treasure and self were subject to a bonding of alternate selves that placed him in the Epoch of the Brown Pillar after the timestream was corrected. As such, his treasure was also the amalgamation of four different timestreams. He was slain during the Epoch of the Brown Pillar, and he never had a chance to spend or use the treasures. He died, his crew died, and no one knew where the treasure was.

During the Epoch of the Matlal Mantle, the so-called "Age of Adventure," legends came alive, returning from the lost pasts wherein they somehow thrived. These legends, true or not, became part of Shem's fabric. These returned legends would appear and knowledge of their existence would spread like wildfire without any tangible medium to carry it. The legend of the lost treasures of Baol Vane came on stormy night to Merukis and all the buccaneers and free-booters of that notorious island city began their preparations to seek it out. By ancient custom, reivers believed that the hoard of any other pirate was theirs by rights--if they could take it.

Four ships sailed out of Merukis that night: the Stormdancer, flagship of the fleet of Darhawkh Ironeye from the Pandemonian Sea; the Shàngdì de Quántóu, flagship of Otaeun Ganzhang, the Agikaani reaver lord; the Mephistopheles, flagship of Zanil the Merciless, the mosg feared pirate in Merukis, and the Scarlet Morning, flagship of the Red Pirate, the legendarily inmortal pirate. Another sailed from the southern Island Bridge, the Maelstrom, flagship of Faya Lann, Queen of the La Siguorno Chain, and one more sailed from Krevzuk, the hidden capital of the slaver empire, the Endaan'uik, flagship of the Vesturian runed slaver Rusilla Danetevya.

The PCs will be reevers on the Scarlet Morning. . The goal is to get to the lost treasure before the others, or to take it from them if they get there first.
