Description Shadowy versions of their former selves with the wounds or features they had when they died. Blood drips from their eyes at all times.
Corruption A treacherheart is a criminal who betrayed other thieves to the authorities, usually causing many deaths, and was doomed and corrupted by the action.
Esoterica Treacherhearts are beings of msawhat and parasitic energy. They can use corrupted versions of powers they had in life save for those of qi, the gates, and heavenly essences. They often use shadow, mystery, black nommos, psionic powers, uafas, quaestus, thorn energy, cacophony, blood energy, b'qar, misfortune, doom, flux, and infernum.
Special Powers Treacherhearts cause unease in those who are near them. They feed off the success of others, stealing from the dark anything other criminals acquire, causing division among them, and gathering secrets to use against them. They are almost impossible to see in the shadows, and as long as they are unseen, they can feed off the emotions of others. The more emotions they devour, the more powerfully they can manipulate others. The voice of a treacherheart is entirely convincing if they have enough power.
Damnation The kind of criminal a treacherheart was in life determines special powers in undeath: burglars have power to pick locks with a touch, pickpockets can sense objects in clothing, muggers have an intimidating aura, robbers can shatter stone with their fists, etc.
Necromancy Msawhat users (16) can create one from any criminal who has ever snitched, and they can often manipulate them into being treachers fairly easily if they have a need. Controlling or summoning a treacherheart is vastly more difficult (24) unless one has their heart. A necromancer can use a treacheart's heart to mimic their powers as well.
Sending A treacherheart can only be sent if they are exposed to light for an extended period of time or significant amounts of qi, the gates, and heavenly essences.
Weaknesses Daylight harms them. They are especially susceptinle to long path.
Behavior Treacherhearts dwell on the fringes of the criminal world, feeding off those they betrayed and the other criminals. They are hated and feared even by other criminals, but few are able to do anything about them. They end up possessing obscure corners of the underworld.
Dominion Culture In the Campionese Dominion, treacherhearts are enforcers, protectors, and spies that serve the ruling forces.
Other Dominions Treacherhearts are rare in most Dominions outside the Campionese. In Dun, they are sometimes bandits or smugglers living in the swamps, and in Agikaani, sometimes war criminals qualify when they betray other war criminals. In Pandemonian, sometimes reevers and raiders become treacherhearts. In most other Dominions they are too rare to establish a pattern.
Mortal Interactions Living thieves and criminals view treacherhearts as monsters, terrible fates for snitches, and dangers in the dark corners of the criminal underground, to be avoided.
Afterlife There is almost never a chance for redemption for treacherhearts; Elysian miracles and very, very powerful heavenly essences can sometimes effect it. Most spend a great deal of time in the in-between, millennia, before moving on to the Hells, Evernight, or the Grey Lands.
