| Description | The darithex stand about seven feet tall. They have moss-like grey fur all over their bodies, with clawed hands and feet, beady black eyes, and a black, bony ridge that runs from their foreheads to their middle backs, like a mane of bone. Their snouts are vaguely anteaterlike, and their fangs are usually bloody red. The females have yellow stripes of fur running from their eyes to their ears. |
| Procreation | With each other. Follows the mother with other thex. |
| Magic | Magic is not possible, as is void. Faith is not uncommon. |
| Special Powers | The darithex absorb void. In order to survive, they must dwell near void sources, attracting void with their bone-mane (called a conductive plate). If they are completely charged, they are able to grab void energies instead of absorbing it. Female darithex have the ability to see voidscale if they close their eyes. Male darithex have in childhood the ability to speak to formless ones. They lose this ability in adolescence, but gain the ability to voidwalk once they are grown. The darithex are immune to void damage. |
| Weaknesses | The kurthex die without void sustenance, and they are weak to magical assault. |
| Culture | The darithex live in complex cities near void sources, like towns springing up around oases. They have a loose hierarchy and little contact with outsiders, focusing on their void-mining and their control of their environment. The women are lookouts, seeking the dark patches that mean magic is coming. The children rarely interact with formless ones, but when one arrives, they are the ambassadors. The men travel into the voidsource to bring out the strongest portions. |
