The Court of Thorns
The
baaless
Haeddiannol represents taking what one wills without consideration for others. She is the embodiment of
thorn energy, and her domain is a castle surrounded by a prickly maze. She is the Poacher, for she hunts regardless of any respect for the Hunt or for nature. She is a taker, a consumer, a devourer. And she wants the
Corona Alba. She is known for being mercurial and treacherous. Her allegiances shift constantly, but the usual players in her court include the following:
Eldritch:
Haeddiannol is very distrustful of the power of the Eldritch, but she makes temporary alliances with some:
- The Trinity of Desires: the extremely distant Eldritch beings known as the Trinity of Desires are sometimes invoked by followers of Haeddiannol, and she herself sometimes allies herself with those who follow the Trinity. However, the Trinity, distant as they are, have limited power on Shem (though they have influence regardless). Of the three - Ta'shamigot, Bolloskth, and Rnd-tha - it is Rnd-tha who is most closely aligned with Haeddiannol. The truth is, however, that Haeddiannol often plots to consume Rnd-tha and take her power, and vice versa.
Divines:
Haeddiannol is known to make temporary alliances with almost any infernal or non-aligned Divine if it suits her, but she has the most stable alliances with the following:
- Benplesir: once, it is said, Haeddiannol killed Benplesir and took her place, only for the Goddess to be resurrected by followers who infused her with a new energy, pecccatum. Benplesir fears Haeddiannol, and as such, she is loathe to betray her, thus making her a close ally. She is subservient to the Poacher and kept happy by being fed pleasure slaves constantly. She represents hedonism and vanity.
- Haeddiannol: the Poacher. See intro.
- Yatana: once an elite mortal thief, Yatana ascended to Divinity during the War of The Pit on Second Shem. A baal, he embodies drenante, the parasitic power to drain workers of their value. He makes enormous profits in power from his alliance with Haeddiannol, and thus, he rarely betrays her.
