After a long cold war with the fairies, the de facto leader of the colonials on the Green Moon, a Redemptionist named Tenacious Melnot, made a deal with Queen Diaga, giving over his daughter as a hostage in exchange for peace, a reduction of the curse, and more land. The curse now only applied to his family, and thus, he died in horror, and his descendants (except his daughter) still bear it. He still hangs around their manor house as a ghost.
